Case studies from Harvard Business Review, a library that is stacked with the latest journals and books in business, eight Bloomberg terminals that the students are given access to, programming languages like Rand data visualization tools like Tableau being incorporated as a part of the academic curriculum, SIBM Bengaluru leaves no stone unturned when it comes to providing its students with the best resources.
The industry exposure that SIBM Bengaluru gives its students is at par with the best B-schools in the country. The regular workshops and guest sessions by stalwarts from the industry ensure that the students develop the skills required to venture into and survive in the corporate world. The live projects give the students the best possible opportunities to get a first-hand experience of the industry. Today, I have an internship in one of the biggest multinational professional services firm and I owe it all to the strong corporate connect of SIBM Bengaluru.
There’s a culture here that seamlessly integrates discipline and fun. The students are as dedicated towards the lectures and the corporate sessions that are organized on a regular basis, as they are towards organising a DJ night at the end of a very successful event! Every event is organised from scratch, by the 12 committees and 14 clubs of the college, driven by the students under the constructive guidance of the faculty. Being a member of the student committees and clubs instils a brand of confidence in every individual, gives the courage to test ostensibly impossible ideas and helps one find a support system.
Being a Bengali, Durga Puja is one time of the year that I miss Kolkata the most. But on the days that I miss the smell of Dhunuchi, the sound of dhak, all the little festivals that make my city so special, SIBM-B dons a robe of celebration and commemorates all the festivals of all the cultures on a grand scale. From Eid to Navratri, Ganesh Chaturthi to Gurupurab, everything is celebrated with much pomp and fanfare.
The past few months here have been wonderfully unpredictable and I am excited about the fact that this is just the beginning. SIBM-B keeps me on my toes and demands that I give more than my best every day. And that has made all difference. This place will always be my roots as well as my wings.
