Tell us about a time when you messed up, and what you learnt from the experience?
While I was preparing for IIT JEE, I heard all of my seniors and the mentors talking about how if we study hard for those 2 years, life after that would be so easy to deal with. And with this notion, I went to college, and didn't work hard enough, didn't make good use of the opportunity that I received in those 4 years. And as a result of which my grade went down and eventually I lagged behind academically than my peers. I joined a job that I didn't like much initially but eventually, I worked hard and got promoted which acted as a reward. And after 1.5 years of my college, I started preparing for CAT and was lucky enough to get into IIM Kozhikode. I now am determined enough to work hard to achieve what I wanted in the first place. And one learning which I got after this incident was that the work which you do in your present can cave a path for the future but for continuous growth, consistency is required at every point in time.
Tell us something about yourself that others may be surprised to know about you.
People feel that I am a very reserved person. But on contrary, I am the exact opposite. I don't mind people for their choices. I am very open and accepting.
What have been your two biggest successes in life? What did you learn from them?
I had been preparing for IIT JEE for 2 years during my 11th and 12th. During that time, I heard how difficult was to get into the BMath program of ISI Bangalore so I just gave it a try and it came off as one of the best exams and interviews I have ever experienced in my life. I am proud of this accomplishment because even though I wasn't preparing at the last moment as usually happens for other exams, but I was confident about my mathematics skills. So, the learning for this experience was that the knowledge we consume on an everyday basis will stay with us and will be useful to us at some point in time. IIT JEE exam was something for which I dedicated my 2 years completely. I aimed and worked for it every minute of those 2 years. It taught me the importance of consistency. The first level of the exam was JEE Mains, where almost the maximum of my group members scored similar marks, but then there was a 2 months gap between the 2nd level. I continued working hard and scored the highest marks in the group. It made me realize that if we work hard to achieve something we will eventually get the result.
Professionally, what is your ideal image of yourself five years from now? Where do you see yourself?
Firstly, I want to look back at this time without any regrets. So, I want to give my best to these two years of college, academically and learn as many skills as I can. Secondly, I have developed an interest in finance, I may not choose the domain to pursue in the future. But I want to develop skills that will be useful at some point in time. over the next five years, I see myself taking on as many complex assignments as the position would allow. By the end of that period, I want to say that I've built lasting relationships.
What is the one skill or characteristic you possess that you are most proud of, and why?
I am a very calm person. I don't get stressed easily, thus I can manage multiple deadlines at one time. As a result of staying calm, I can focus on individual work in a better way keeping everything else aside. And I adapt to changes very quickly.
In your opinion, what skills or qualities does a successful manager possess?
A manager should be clear in his vision and should be able to convey it clearly to the employees. They should be humble and empathetic towards others. Taking care of responsibilities, and giving due credit when due. I feel these are some of the qualities which a successful manager possesses.
Tell us about an ethical dilemma that you may have faced, and how you resolved it.
There were many times when I faced an ethical dilemma in running my small business. There was a time when I can across some of the trending pieces online which were sold at around 3k or even more. It was a good way of gaining easy profits. But, our stores' priority/ values were to increase our loyal customer base and taking care of staying grounded, and knowing why we starting the business in the first place. So, we set the usual price of 800 which is between the average 600-900 for any dress sold on your page.
If you were the CEO of any company of your choosing, which company would you choose and what would your first action be as CEO?
I would like to be the CEO of Urban Company. They are a company which has taken service sector with a different approach. I would change two things in the company:1. Building a sense of loyalty in the workers towards the company since they tend to make their own clients after getting in touch with the customers.2. I would try the possibility of business expansion by incorporating daily household workers service as well.
