A singer who play different tune;
Some jovial, some melancholy
An actor who juggle with many emotions
An artist with many roles
A face with many mask...!
"But what really drives me?" I do not know
It's a quest
I have begun
A missing piece- I am after
It's a thought that haunts me,
Keeps me awake at night
I walk in the moonlight
with my eyes fixated at the distant star Searching...
Looking for the answer
For my true passion...!
Perhaps
The answers are not out there Perhaps
We are not ought to find it
Work
On the path step by step
Sweat in the day till we fall
Burn in the sun till we can endure
And rebuilt from the ashes
Reform and reshape from the dust...!
Only to realise the one Idea that is quintessential to all our work
A dot to connect all...
The first poem I wrote when I started my MBA. For me, MBA was and is a pursuit not to get a degree in exchange for the amount I have put, but to really understand the bigger questions!
Passions, a misnomer, a crypt, a word that haunt us all. For a few, it’s something to put across on a CV, for some it a way of living and for some, it is a journey to find what the true drive is?
In a b-school, it goes without saying that the academics are different, the life is different and indeed the purpose is different. Though the basis remains the same - toil, persevere and if you put your head to it, you can do anything and everything. The direction here is equally important and without it, one may be just having sleepless nights without understanding the meaning of all the rat race.
MBA in itself is a mixed bag of knapsack - an experience, a career opportunity and a bundle of feelings bolted inside for life. This is often said and heard but unless experienced it is hard to believe.
The MBA draw varied emotions across - the veterans looked with a feeling of nostalgia, the incumbents - with a pinch of humour and palpitation and the aspirants with awe, respect and a deep sigh with eyes transfixed on the calendar counting days.
Every aspirant is a prospect and the difference between you and the guy who would have been you is a person who could try just not harder but smarter and often left to wonder about the tricks and treachery of luck and universe. Sometimes, you just cannot cross the bar to be on the other side, but that’s not the end of it – stay with it, stay with your purpose, get your head right and you will get there.
But the battle is not complete when get into a b-school, you are just getting started.
Few things you don’t know will inevitably happen to you
I. Committees – which one to pick!
Yes, you would be thrust with numerous committee. And before you know it, you would be running between classes and team meetings. Yes, it is an important aspect of it, but don’t overload don’t overdrive get your priorities right.
II. Acads take the back seat ...really!
Yes, somehow in midst of all the committee and high level talks few meaningful, a few sham, the actual acads take a hit – the very thing you enrolled into the program
III. Case Studies - To Do or not to Do, that’s the real question
Yes, you would enrol, feel reluctant and sometimes send sub-standard entry. The key is to keep it rolling, feel like crap when you screw and learn how to manage the workload and deadlines.
Moreover, take it easy! create a comfortable yet competitive environment for yourself. Find what you are good at could be solving finance cases, could be cracking business case studies, could be writing articles – find your niche and toil – stay with it. And nonetheless, if you don’t sleep better when you get into an MBA college, it’s a sign of great things to come..!
