SCMHRD has won the National round 2nd time in row of the 8th Annual CFA Institute Research Challenge in India for the year 2015-16. They will represent Team India in the Asia Pacific Round to be held in Chicago in the week of April 11, 2016.
The SCMHRD team, comprising of Bhanu Patni, Jatin Panchi, Jinesh Hingu, Paradha Saradhi Kottakki and Shailie Naik, were adjudged unanimous winners at the National round, held in the Bloomberg office, Mumbai on January 30, 2016, hosted by Indian Association of Investment Professionals.
The other finalists in the National round included NMIMS from West Zone, IIFT Delhi from North Zone, IIM Trichy from South Zone and IIM Ranchi from East Zone, which were selected after grueling zonal rounds which saw a participation of 47 of the country's best management institutes.
The teams had to present an equity research report on the given company, before an eminent panel of judges comprising of Mr. S. Naren, CIO- Equity and Fixed Income, Mr. PrasunGajri, CIO HDFC Standard Life, and Mr. Pankaj Murarka, Head Equity Axis Mutual Fund.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge, considered as the Investment Olympics saw more than 3700+ students from 825+ universities worldwide in the local rounds of the competition this year. In India, it is conducted at the 5 zonal levels, with 50 of the country’s best management institutes participating. This year, the Central Zone finals saw teams from FLAME Pune, IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Udaipur, IMT Nagpur, SCMHRD Pune and SIBM Pune present their research analysis and answer probing questions from an eminent panel of judges, with SCMHRD emerging as winners.
The two teams will now compete for the Asia Pacific finals to be held simultaneously with Global Finals in Chicago, the United States, where they will compete against other global teams in the week of April 11, 2016.
