The only thing that makes CAT appear to be tough is your perception of how you see it. With only 30 days left for the exam, it is time to let go of the books. More than preparation, it is the time for self-introspection. Not to scare you peeps, but life ahead is much tougher than what this exam might feel like to you. Just believe in yourself, now you are done with your preparations. What is left is to step back into reality, and actually knowing what your string points and your weak points are. And this is not middle school, where you have to work on your weak areas. It is just the opposite, now is the time to identify them and letting go of them. Know the strong areas, hold on to them, grind them even further.
You don’t get an IIM for getting 99 percent here, rather 99 percentile. Believe that your strong areas, can get you there and all your fear vanishes away. I know, easier said than done, but not to worry, what is to follow has been tried and tested, multiple times, twice by me as well. Let go of your old notes, your CAT prep books, your institute notes. The only thing required now is you, your ability to retrospect and just one external resource, a series of about 7 mock tests. Now the external resource is to make your life easier, because self-introspection, although accompanied by words like “just” in the article is one of the toughest things to do in life.
A fine morning or evening just sit on your laptop, with the first test out of those 7 selected, with 3 hours reserved just for yourself. I know there is flexibility, but there is none when you begin this walk-through. Three hours, continuously staring at the screen and your rough notepad. The percentile you receive there is very close to the actual percentile, you will receive in the exam as well. And no need to be afraid of that either.
All that you need is retrospection now. There is an analysis present, no matter which test series you have subscribed to, where you can actually see, what you already know deep within. The kind of questions that you did perfectly in apt time, questions that were wrong, questions that took you ages to solve.
Now the key is to accept that you don’t need to be perfect in your attempt. You need to be as quick and as precise as possible. This is the time to accept that the questions that took you ages, the problems that were wrong, a part of them had to be let go of, as soon as you see them in the exam. And just work on timing the correct questions even better an leaving those imperfect questions absolutely until you are done with these. Again, sounds easier than done, I know, that’s why the 7 test challenge, and you will see the difference.
Now although the test will take just 3 hours, the next 2 days are just for the introspection part. 3rd day, go ahead with the next test and so on. Now this process will leave you with about 10 days to spare, now these 10 days are the most essential in the plan. What needs to be done here is to just relax, take a chill pill, go out with you friends, family because CAT is just the beginning to what is about to come. So don’t worry about it and attempt the exam not as if there’s nothing else left after the exam but with the thought process of just one exam paper won’t decide how my life is going to be.
Until Next Time !!!
