A famous quote says that 'If something is working well, don't touch it'. My biggest challenge was going against this quote.

My life was perfect – a loving family, caring friends and good prospects in career as an IT Engineer (front end developer). I had enough time to invest in my hobbies and passions. I had enviable work life balance. Yet something was missing. Upon further inspection I found out that front end development was not my field of interest. I enjoyed participating in management related activities at my workplace. Ideation interested me. I was always hungry for the bigger picture.

I realised that I wanted to dive deeper into the field of Organisation Development. I wanted to understand and to make best use of 'change' around. I wanted to be a wise leader. So I decided to study Organisation Development Change and Leadership formally.

Little did I know that I was in for a lot of challenges. Preparing for the entrance exam while working extended hours in office left me exhausted. Thankfully, my efforts paid off and I was selected for the course. The bigger boulder now was convincing my family to let me go for the course. As per a majority of Indian middle class families, 25 is the perfect age to start looking for a groom for the girl. Under peer pressure, my parents tried to convince me to not step out of utopia and 'settle down'. With due conviction, I convinced them after multiple attempts to let me go for the course.

Life isn't same now as a student. I am still adjusting to the drastic change in life style. I miss my old circle of friends but I am trying to fill up the spaces with new ones. Unlearning and learning is a real pain. I am still proud of the decision I have made for my own interest. I am sure that things will work out even better again. I will create a new utopia again.
