However, I was hardly 8 years old at that time and didn't know the meaning of a "Conglomerate" obviously. The logo was imprinted in my eyes and the same was again encountered when I went to Grasim Cement township (ABG Subsidiary) near my home town in Chhattisgarh.
I wondered and asked my father "Is it the same company who owns Idea Cellular?". He replied - "Yes, not only Idea but it has its presence across many sectors like cement, aluminum, textiles, etc."
I used to watch a lot of cartoons in childhood, TV Ads like Idea cellular "Get an Idea Campaign" and Ultratech Cement "Engineer's choice" tagline fascinated me. I remember that I even told my father when our house was being constructed, "Please, buy Ultratech Cement, it is the Engineer's choice! ”(as I am going to be a future engineer)
Time rolled on, it was the mid-2010s, I remember buying formals for my campus interviews, I bought a Louis Phillipe Shirt influenced by the Instagram ad I saw on my phone. After six months or so I came to know through an article on a News daily that Louis Phillipe, as well as Van Heusen, are ABG brands.
My mind blew off! So I started researching in detail about ABG and came to know about all its brands through the website to complete my enlightenment which began in the 2000s.
I always have been driven by a curiosity to know more and improve myself since my teenage. However, I too faced my own set of challenges as everyone does. I was a shy and introvert person in my school days. I remember getting fainted on stage once in 8th standard before giving a speech.
Thus, everyone used to interpret me as a book worm and a person who can’t express himself. I used to fear the stage presence and talk among a group of people. I always wanted to break that image. The process of my evolution started in college when I joined various committees in college and started working among a group of people from various regions across India. This improved my interpersonal skills gradually and boosted my confidence. Still that stage fear was somewhere there.
Finally, I decided to face my fear when I was appointed as a club secretary in my workplace. I was chosen to be the anchor for a cultural event. That evening, I hosted a crowd of 500 people. That experience transformed as a person and reinforced the fact that running away from your problems isn’t a solution. So, Face them – Head on!
