Avinash Thakur had a similar approach in terms of starting his career before he completed his undergraduate degree.Avinash Thakur, currently pursuing his PGDM in Marketing from IMT, Ghaziabad skipped the queue in terms of finding employment prior to being a B.Tech graduate during his time at MIT, Manipal by founding an IoT based start-up called ‘UnoTrack’. A startup that derives its revenue by optimizing and increasing the efficiency of a system, by connecting them over an Internet network, analyzing and monitoring data to deliver value for the customer. UnoTrack is a SAAS Product for fleet managers, bus drivers, or customers that need data and tracking of personal vehicles. The idea behind UnoTrack sprouted while Avinash was working at Nifty Index on an automated trading algorithm and doing that time he crossed paths with his co-founder, who is a Master of Engineering in Embedded & Wireless Technology. After an interaction with a fleet manager of a local cab service, they came across the various issues a fleet manager goes through on a daily basis in terms of monitoring the driver's whereabouts and other data pertaining to vehicle location, current speed, distance traveled, harsh acceleration/deceleration, fuel consumption, engine RPM, etc.UnoTrack is based out of Manipal, Karnataka at the Manipal Universal Technology Business Incubator, around 30 interns from local engineering colleges were hired and trained to get the product up-and-running during the initial stages of setting up. The setting up phase involved a lot of trial and error, experimentation, and deliberation among all the departments to set up a reliable product with efficient software that would streamline the client’s requirements, despite there being uncertainty entering a niche market for their products and services. B-schools help in developing and inculcating skill sets that an individual must acquire in order to smoothly run an organization with a large number of clients and employees without causing hindrance in the day-to-day activities, the PGDM Marketing course encompasses all one needs to know about management in their curriculum.UnoTrack caters to B2B vehicle fleet owners, B2C customers in need of a custom tracking solution for their family vehicles. They help create solutions to connect people and assets on the move. They have built a robust platform that lies underneath the surface, keeping a track of every single entity that is connected through their various offerings to churn out actionable intelligence.Avinash is currently doing his PGDM at IMT, Ghaziabad and understanding the business space in a more detailed and holistic manner, in-turn combining his technical knowledge from his engineering background and now understanding the business end of things. The daily operations of UnoTrack are being managed by the co-founder, while Avinash oversees the processes that have been initiated and makes sure activities are seamless, also implementing new and different strategies he’s learning as a part of his curriculum.*This is a promoted feature
