All You Need To Know About Finance Roles After An MBA

Investment banking is pretty cool right?! But it's not the only career open to you in finance. There are many interesting roles you can work in, with your MBA in Finance. Did you know that many finance roles have a strong sales angle? It’s a myth that all finance roles entail math wizardry! In this article, we cover some of these roles offered by banking & finance companies at schools across India. We are looking at roles offered at some top 25 odd schools in India. 5 Careers Options After An MBA In Finance

“The one thing I would caution you is that there would be roles offered in the BFSI sector that are not core finance roles (such as Relationship Manager and Sales Manager roles), but offer quite attractive CTCs and mass recruit as well. It is a dilemma that lots of core Finance people find themselves in (barring those in IIMs ABC, FMS) when they're waiting for companies during placement season. The peer pressure to get placed, coupled with the fear of obtaining lesser quality roles and CTCs as the days go by sets in. There are a few schools of thought regarding that, but if you decide that you want to choose the CTC over a core role, then that's your decision to take. However, I know that it is not impossible to switch back to a core finance role after a year, but it'll definitely take more effort to do so.” - Check out Riddhi Kalra, IIM Trichy student’s take on career options post MBA.

Therefore, I have come up with this report on the various types of jobs after MBA that top recruiters offer, along with the titles you can expect to have as you progress in your career. This report may also help you in structuring an answer to the all-important - "Why MBA?", and also in preparing your CV in just the right way for placements (if and when you get to that).” - Check out InsideIIM Editor Chirag Shukla’s take on job titles post-MBA
