Not much of a difference between the two slots so far.
6:50 pm : First Impressions by ARKS Srinivas - National Head for MBA at Career Launcher (previously CEO of Vistamind) -
Slot 2 was very similar to slot 1.
VARC would be almost the same
DILR was slightly easier and hence the marks will go up by 3 to 4 marks
QA was again similar to the slot 1.
As compared to CAT16, the overall paper of CAT17, considering both the slots, is that it is slightly easier without any surprises. The only surprise was QA was much easier and similar to the one in CAT15.
Slot 1 (VARC, DILR, QA, Overall) 66-68 ; 33-34 ; 69-70 ; 155-160
Slot 2 : 67-69 ; 37-38 ; 65-66 ; 155-160
6:23 pm : Detailed Analysis and Expected Cut-offs For Slot 1 by Career Launcher - check it out
here.
5:55 pm : First Impressions from CAT Takers - Slot 2 Paper was very similar to the Slot 1 paper. Except that RCs were really long in the Slot 2 paper unlike in Slot 1 where RCs were quite short! Follow our
Facebook page to view live updates from Students who took CAT in the second slot.

Students have assumed an unreasonably high amount of average accuracy - which always happens - we always over estimate our performance - take the data - especially the expected correct data - with bags of salt.
4.10 pm : A section-wise Analysis by Arihant Gala, Academic Mentor at CPLC Mumbai can be found
here. It also has what type of questions were asked and overall and section wise difficulty level.

Do note that most InsideIIM Users score better than the average. The actual average will be far lower than whatever our average is - we are saying this from our experience. Only those who have done well or those who think they have done well will also follow this space closely.
12.36 pm : First Impressions by ARKS Srinivas - National Head for MBA at Career Launcher (previously CEO of Vistamind) -
First slot / exactly similar to last year. However, Quant was very easy. So was VA. But LRDI continues to be tough with a lot of reasoning based DI and LR. Cutoff will go pretty low for LRDI. Whereas the cutoff for QA will increase quite a bit. Also, para summary was given as MCQ.
VA/RC - RC 24 questions (5 passages) exactly as last year. VA - 7 questions Non MCQs; 3 questions MCQ
Similar to last year paper. Cut off may go down a bit.
LRDI - 8 sets. Not direct at all. Reasoning based. Cut off will go down quite a bit.
QA - Pretty easy and direct. Quite a lot of arithmetic. Making it easier for non-engineers. Cutoff will go up.
Overall cutoff will go up. (ARKS initially thought cutoff will down but after speaking to students he has revised his estimate upwards - edited at 1.13 pm)
12.08 pm : First impressions are here. We are live on
instagram with feedback. DI/LR seems to have been tough is what the first few people who have come out have said.
11.45 am : Discuss your CAT 2017 with fellow CAT Takers
here live all week.
11 am : Good Morning, the first slot of CAT 2017 is already underway and we will be providing you complete coverage from a few centres in Mumbai and from our community across India for the next few days. IIM Lucknow is conducting this year's Common Admission Test.
