The CAT 2021 exam season opened with the morning slot of the CAT exam. This year, the number of questions reduced from 76 questions to 66 questions. Overall, the difficulty level of the morning slot was comparable to that of CAT 2020 (overall). Based on feedback from students, the VARC section emerged as the most difficult section in this slot, with particularly tough RC sets but relatively easier VA sets.

The afternoon slot of the CAT 2021 was largely similar to the morning slot in terms of difficulty. Once again, the VARC section was a tough nut to crack, with complex and lengthy RC sets. As per IMS's predictions, candidates would need to score upwards of 90 marks to be hopeful for a 99 percentile.

The evening slot of the CAT 2021 exam was along the lines of the previous two slots in terms of difficulty. As per Career Launcher, a score in the 92-95 range would be sufficient for a 99 percentile in CAT 2021, though predictions will be more concrete once IIM Ahmedabad releases the official response sheet and answer key for CAT 2021.
