Batch Composition IIM A Vs B Vs C
Key Insights:-
- The intake at IIM A is almost double that at IIM B and C.
- The average age and experience are higher at IIM-C indicating a more experienced batch. 44% of the batch has work-ex between 8-12 years. Additionally, 9% of the batch has over 12 years of experience. IIM-B gives preference to less than 12 years of experience. Similar data for IIM-A is not available.
- IIM-A is more gender inclusive but the overall representation of women candidates is on the lower side in the three campuses. This might be due to the average age of 30 and 31 in the batch where women’s career trajectory slows down due to marriage and maternity.

The average GMAT score is similar within the three courses. It is also interesting to note that the average GMAT score in these institutions is at par with top management schools globally.
- The high-low GMAT scores at IIM-B are 630 and 780 respectively.
- The maximum GMAT score is 780.
- Similar data is not available for IIM-A. However, the average GRE score at IIM-A is 324.
Industrial Diversity
Key Insights
- The participation of the Oil & Gas/Energy sector is significant in the one-year MBAs offered at the three campuses, particularly at IIM-C where it constitutes 26% of the batch.
- Apart from IIM-A (11%) consulting background does not have much representation in the executive program. One of the reasons is that consultants get a good promotion or exit option after spending 4 to 5 years in the industry.
- Professionals from Manufacturing and IT/ITES also form a major chunk of the Class of 2024 at these campuses.
