“Every role has a flavor of sales in it,” says Arun Ramnath, Chief Business Officer, CARE Risk Solutions Pvt. Ltd.  Arun Ramnath’s journey with MBA started on a strange note. He used to conduct tuitions regularly, which led to his father demanding what he had in mind for a career. ‘No one would want to marry a tuition teacher’, he said. From there, to finance, to a sales role, to becoming the Chief Business Officer at CARE Risk Solutions Pvt. Ltd., his journey has been quite interesting, full of challenges and invaluable learning. His passion for teaching never died though; even during his MBA at IFMR, he would conduct tuitions for his fellow peers.
With all this unique experience, he prepared himself to manage people and face the corporate world. Whenever an opportunity came his way, he always chose things that would help him grow and stay relevant in the industry. He’s worked with Banking Technology, Risk Management, and of course, Sales. In this video, he shares his unique journey, giving us valuable insights into how the corporate world functions. Plus, he takes questions from the crowd, giving his expert advice to aspirants. Key Takeaways:

1. With the rapid pace at which technology is growing, it is imperative that you are comfortable with the constant change. You have to embrace technology to be able to stay in the corporate race.
2. Data is becoming more and more important with time. While data collection might become automated, humans will be required to analyze that data and figure out what you have to do with it. You must develop your analytical skills to stay in the race.
3. Every role has a flavor of sales in it.
4. During your interviews, if you come from a particular background, or have any particular interests, you will be grilled on it. Be honest about what you say during your interviews.
5. If you get the opportunity to steer the interview towards the direction which suits you, seize it.
