IIFT has released the selection criteria for admission to its MBA (IB) program via IIFT 2022! This year, IIFT has assigned a whopping 73% and 45% weight to IIFT scores in the WAT-GD-PI and final shortlisting processes, respectively. Non-engineers and female candidates will have a significant edge in the admission process, and those with less than a year or more than five years of experience won't get any marks for work experience. Here's a quick look at the IIFT selection criteria for admission to the MBA (IB) batch of 2023-2025!

Understanding IIFT's Admission Process For MBA (IB) 2023-2025

There are three steps in IIFT's selection process for its MBA (IB) program. First, candidates are eliminated on the basis of the minimum overall and sectional percentile cut-offs. From the remaining candidates, a few are shortlisted for the WAT-GD-PI round based on a set of selection criteria.  Those who make it to the WAT-GD-PI round are then evaluated on the basis of other selection criteria before being added to/eliminated from the final shortlist. Here's a closer look at each of these steps in IIFT's admission process.
Phase 1 - Screening candidates based on overall and sectional IIFT cut-offs
Like the IIMs, IIFT also rejects candidates who don't meet the minimum percentile cut-offs. The minimum percentile (sectional or overall) will only be available when candidates download their final scorecards. Here are the IIFT score cut-offs for previous years that can give you a better idea. Please note that the cut-off marks for female candidates across all categories are 2 less than the actual cut-off in line with IIFT’s policy of gender diversity.
Phase 2 - Shortlisting candidates for the WAT-GD-PI round
Now, the remaining candidates from Phase 2 are evaluated on the basis of a set of selection criteria. For the 2022-2023 admissions cycle, these selection criteria include the IIFT score, 10th and 12th marks, and diversity. The weights for each of the criteria are mentioned in the table below. To calculate the rating scores for a candidate's 10th and 12th marks, IIFT will refer to the below tables.   Based on these selection criteria, IIFT will shortlist candidates for the WAT-GD-PI round.
Phase 3 - Final Shortlisting
Candidates who make it to the WAT-GD-PI round will have to submit an essay on a given topic, discuss a given topic in a group, and appear for a personal interview with an IIFT panel. Once the process is complete for everyone, IIFT will shortlist candidates based the below selection criteria. To calculate the rating score for work experience, IIFT will use the following scoring rule. Here, the final score for work ex = (the score for the number of months of experience * score given by the IIFT panel out of 10)/10. This means that if you have 25 months of work experience, and the IIFT panel gives you a 9 out of 10 for the quality of work experience, your total score comes out to about 2.7 out of a maximum possible of 3. But that also means that if you have less than 12 months or more than 60 months of experience, you get zero marks. And that's it! If you check all the right boxes, you make it to IIFT's MBA (IB) batch of 2025!
