IIM Calcutta has released the final placement report for the MBA Class of 2020! The final placement season for the 55th batch at IIM Calcutta saw participation from 150 recruiters, including McKinsey & Company, Bain & Company, BCG, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Microsoft, Google, AB InBev, HUL and Mondelez among others. The average of the top-50% of all offers stood at INR 34.6 lakhs, while the average of the top-75% of all offers stood at INR 30.9 lakhs. These are important highlights from the IIM Calcutta final placement report for the MBA class of 2020.
150 Recruiters Participate In The Final Placement Process At IIM Calcutta, Extend 498 Offers To MBA Class of 2020
- A total of 150 recruiters and 444 MBA students participated in the final placement process at IIM Calcutta in 2020. A total of 498 offers were extended to the MBA batch of 2018-2020.
- 35% of the total number of offers comprised Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs), lateral offers made up 22% of the total number of offers, and 43% of the offers came from the on-campus final placement process.
- 40% of all PPOs were extended for Consulting, 18% for Sales & Marketing, 16% for Operations and General Management, 14% for Finance, and 12% for Product Management and IT.

Management Consulting Most Sought-After For IIM Calcutta Graduates | Final Placement, MBA Class of 2020
Trends suggest that Management Consulting is one of the most sought-after domains for students across most of India's top business schools, and IIM Calcutta, one of the top-3 most desirable business schools in India, is no different. In 2020, 19% of the batch at IIM Calcutta opted for roles in the Management Consulting domain. 19% of the batch at IIM Calcutta opted for roles in the Operations & General Management domains, while another 19% chose Product Management roles & roles in the IT sector.
Sales and Marketing emerged as the fourth most sought-after domain for IIM Calcutta students, with 17% of the batch opting for roles in this domain.
Surprisingly, IIM Calcutta, which is known as the 'Finance Campus of India', had 15% of the batch opting for Finance roles, making it only the fifth most sought-after domain for students - compare this with
final placements for the MBA Class of 2019, where Finance was the second most sought-after domain for IIM C students, just behind Management Consulting.
Highest Salary At IIM Calcutta Touches INR 80 Lakhs, Median Salary Salary Increases By 7% Over The Previous Year
This final placement season, IIM Calcutta witnessed an 11% increase over the previous year in the highest salary offered to the MBA batch. The highest CTC offered touched INR 80 lakhs, and was offered for Sales & Marketing roles, as well as Finance roles.
The median CTC for the MBA batch of 2018-2020 at IIM Calcutta stood at INR 25.1 lakhs per annum. The average CTC for the MBA batch of 2018-2020 at IIM Calcutta stood at INR 27.8 lakhs per annum.
The average of the top-5% offers stood at INR 65.9 lakhs per annum. The average of the top-10% offers stood at INR 54.5 lakhs per annum. The average of the top-15% offers stood at INR 48.3 lakhs per annum. The average of the top-50% offers stood at INR 34.6 lakhs per annum. The average of the top-75% offers stood at INR 30.9 lakhs per annum.
