Understanding IIM Indore's Admission Process In Three Simple Steps
IIM Indore's selection process is fairly simple to understand. First, the institute filters out candidates based on their CAT 2021 scores, and has set minimum overall and sectional cut-offs to this end. Candidates who meet these cut-offs will then be shortlisted based on their academic profile + CAT 2021 overall score + diversity factor. Shortlisted candidates will appear for the WAT-PI round, following which IIM Indore will generate the final merit list based on yet another weighted composite score.
Step 1 - Filtering Out Candidates Based On CAT 2021 Overall And Sectional Cut-Offs
All applicants applying for the PGP of IIM Indore must satisfy the minimum sectional percentile and overall percentile scores in CAT 2021, as mentioned in the table below. Only those applicants meeting the specified criteria will be considered for the next step of the admissions process.
Please note that simply meeting the minimum cut-offs set by any IIM is not a guarantee of a shortlist from said IIM.
Step 2 - Shortlisting Candidates For WAT-PI Round, Based On Weighted Composite Score
Only those candidates who meet the criteria in Step-1 will be eligible for Step-2 of the selection process. In this step, IIM Indore will calculate a weighted composite score for each eligible candidate based on their academic performance as well as their CAT 2021 scores. The table below captures the various components evaluated by IIM Indore and their respective weights while creating the WAT-PI shortlist:
Candidates short-listed for WAT and PI will be intimated in the month of January 2022. Individual regret letters will not be sent to applicants who are not shortlisted for WAT and PI. IIM Indore will conduct the admission interviews in online/offline mode depending on the situation.
Step 3 - Creating Final Shortlist For Admission To PGP Program
After candidates have been shortlisted in Step 2 of the selection process, IIM Indore will conduct the WAT-PI round. The institute will then create a weighted composite score based on a candidate's WAT-PI performance, their CAT 2021 scores, and their academic profile. Each component will be assigned a different weight, as illustrated in the table below. This is the final stage of the selection process before admission offers are extended to selected candidates.
What Does IIM Indore's 2021 Admission Policy Mean For You?
IIM Indore's latest admission policy reveals that the institute will lay major emphasis on a candidate's academic profile. While shortlisting candidates for the WAT-PI round, nearly 75% of the weight for calculating the composite score will be for 10th and 12th marks. This means that only 20% of the weighted composite score is in your hands (the other 6% being assigned for diversity). IIM Indore is the only IIM amongst the top six to have such a low weightage for CAT scores, making it one of the more difficult IIMs to get into
(along with IIM Bangalore).
Candidates with work experience will have no advantage in the admissions process, i.e., the admissions process is a level playing field for freshers as well as experienced applicants. Female and non-engineer applicants will have a slight advantage over the rest.
In the final round, your performance in the personal interview will be the most influential factor. Competition will be close in this round, and your CAT 2021 score may be the difference between an admission offer and a regret letter.
