Understanding IIM Kashipur's 2021 Selection Criteria For Admission To PGPM Program
IIM Kashipur's 2021 admission process can be broken down into two simple steps. In the first step, candidates are shortlisted subject to them meeting the minimum sectional and overall CAT cut-off set by the institute. Then, shortlisted candidates will appear for the personal interview round. Candidates' PI performance along with their profile will be evaluated to generate a composite score. This score will be used to create the final merit list for admission to IIM Kashipur. Here is a simple breakdown of IIM Kashipur's admission process.
Step 1 - Shortlisting Candidates Based Solely On CAT 2021 Performance
The table below indicates the minimum performance expected from candidates to be shortlisted for the PI.
"Please note that achieving the cut-off percentile in CAT is a necessary but not sufficient condition for being shortlisted. The participating IIMs reserve the right to have a higher cut-off than those mentioned above." This implies that candidates will most likely be required to score higher than the cut-offs set in order to be shortlisted for the personal interview round.
Candidates shortlisted in step one will be invited for the personal interview round, which will be conducted as a part of the Common Admission Process (CAP).
Step 2 - Creating Final Merit List Based On Composite Score
To create the final merit list, IIM Kashipur's final composite score for a candidate = Personal Interview score (2a) + Profile score (2b). This score will be used to rank students according to their merit.
While calculating the composite score, 25% of the weight has been assigned to a candidate's personal interview performance.
While calculating the composite score, IIM Kashipur has assigned a 33% weight to CAT 2021 scores, 5% weight each to 10th, 12th, Graduation marks, 5% weight for any professional qualifications, 10% weight for work experience (as filled out in the CAT 2021 form), and 6% weight each for academic and gender diversity.

What Does IIM Kashipur's 2021 Admission Policy Mean For You?
While calculating the composite score for final admission, 58% of the weight (PI+CAT) is in your hands, while the other 42% is dependent entirely on your academic performance, work experience, and diversity. This is applicable if you meet the minimum CAT cut-offs set by IIM Kashipur, which is higher than that set by many first generation IIMs (for the general category).
Candidates with work experience less than 6 months or greater than 36 months have no advantage in IIM Kashipur's selection process. So if you're a fresher, or someone with significant experience, it brings no advantage to you. Female applicants as well as non-engineer applicants will have an advantage in the selection process.
Essentially, if you're a GEM with less than 6 months/over 36 months of experience, and do not have any professional qualifications, an excellent performance in CAT 2021 as well as the personal interview will be crucial for selection. Chances of selection are slim for candidates with a below-par academic profile.
