IIM Kozhikode's selection criteria for 2023-25 are out! This year, IIM Kozhikode has set the minimum overall CAT 2023 cut-off at the 85th percentile. The sectional cut-offs continue to be at the 75th percentile. For WAT-PI shortlisting,
IIM Kozhikode has assigned a huge 45% weight for CAT 2023 scores. 10th and 12th marks have been assigned 25% and 15% weight respectively. Notably, diversity points will be either assigned for gender diversity OR academic diversity — not both. Here's a simple breakdown of the 2023 IIM Kozhikode selection criteria.
IIM Kozhikode's Selection Criteria 2023-25 - Important Highlights
- The minimum overall CAT 2023 cut-off is at the 85th percentile. The minimum sectional cut-off is at the 75th percentile
- General category applicants with less than 60% in graduation will be screened out early on in IIM K's selection process
- To shortlist candidates for WAT-PI, IIM K will assign a 55% weight to a candidate's profile (10th, 12th, work ex, diversity), and 45% weight to CAT 2023 score
- If you're a female/transgender candidate, you're eligible for 10% diversity marks. Non-engineers are eligible for 5% points for diversity. But you're either eligible for gender diversity OR academic diversity, NOT both
- If you have less than 6 months of work experience, you get no marks for that parameter. The same goes for work experience over 60 months
- To shortlist candidates for admission, IIM K will assign 35% weight to CAT scores, 35% weight to PI, 20% weight to WAT, and 10% to a candidate's resume
- Your resume will be evaluated based on the NIRF ranking of your college and whether you have professional qualifications and certifications
IIM Kozhikode's admission process is as follows:
There are three steps in IIM Kozhikode's admissions process in the 2024-2026 admissions cycle.
- First, a large chunk of candidates are eliminated from the process based on the minimum CAT 2023 overall and sectional cut-offs, or their graduation marks.
- Then, from the remaining candidates, IIM K will shortlist candidates for the WAT-PI round. This shortlist will be created based on a weighted score that considers your CAT 2023 score, 10th and 12th marks, work experience, and academic OR gender diversity.
- After the WAT-PI process, a final shortlist will be created based on a weighted score that considers your CAT 2023 score, WAT score, PI score, and Resume score.

Phase 1 - IIM Kozhikode's Selection Criteria 2023-25: Screening based on CAT 2023 and academic score cut-offs
To even be eligible for being shortlisted for the WAT-PI round, you need to meet IIM Kozhikode's CAT 2023 and academic cut-offs. In 2023, IIM Kozhikode has set the overall CAT 2023 cut-off at the 85th percentile, and the sectional cut-off at the 75th percentile for the General category.
Now, please remember that simply meeting the cut-offs doesn't mean you're through to the WAT-PI round. That comes later, as discussed below.
Phase 2 -IIM Kozhikode's Selection Criteria 2023-25: Shortlisting for WAT-PI round
So, you've safely made it to the WAT-PI shortlisting phase. Now, whether or not you progress in the process depends on your CAT 2023 performance, your academic profile, your work experience, and the diversity you bring to the batch. This is more clear in the table below.
Please remember that you're entitled to a diversity score of 10% if you're a female/transgender applicant OR, 5% for being a non-engineer. If you're in both categories, you'll not be getting 15% extra marks.
Work experience scores will be calculated based on the table below. Your work experience will be calculated upto 31st December 2023.
The number of candidates shortlisted in this phase depends on the batch size IIM Kozhikode wants. All shortlisted candidates will now move on to the WAT-PI process.
Phase 3 - IIM Kozhikode's Selection Criteria 2023-25: Final shortlisting
This is the final stage of the admissions process. Your selection for the PGP batch will depend on how you've done in your WAT and PI, as well as your
CAT 2023 score. More interestingly, your resume will also be evaluated on a certain set of parameters.

And that's it! If you check all the boxes throughout the selection process, you'll be extended an admission offer via email in April 2024, and you'll become a part of IIM K's PGP batch of 2026!
