Many schools out there are as aesthetically gratifying on the outside as they are innovative on the inside, and with their host of top-class facilities these attractive buildings may inspire students to work harder. But IIM Lucknow, not merely aesthetically pleasing, has made it to the list of world’s top 50 most beautiful business schools, securing the 34th position. And does it simply motivate us to study more? Nah, it does a lot more! IIM Lucknow, apart from being Hell as we rightfully call this place, can now boast also about being among the prettiest sights in the world. No wonder, we call it Hell… our unbelievably frenetic schedule makes us a surprising combination of always-in-a-hurry nerds and unpredictable period. But staying inside such an intellectual as well as architectural counter piece is a treat in itself. Spread over 185 acres, IIM-Lucknow campus is an ideal setting conducive to learning. The campus, set in serene and verdant vicinity, not only provides an excellent ambiance for our academic endeavors but also enables us with an opportunity to unwind.              Its stunning design begins with a huge sculpture of Arjuna on the chariot with his mentor, Krishna… a still from the Mahabharata. We enter a world of salient red bricks lined up to form “Medieval Indian” structures. The work of the renowned C.P. Kukreja Associates, it has courts boasting fountains and green areas. The intricate planning to ensure that nature is maintained at its splendid best in a campus replete with ergonomically designed buildings ensures well-manicured lawns and stands of large trees on a beautiful site that makes IIM-Lucknow the most beautiful campuses in India. It doesn’t take long to fall in love with the place and the ambience in the campus is something that every student leaving the campus misses the most. As you see the seasons changing you will only gradually fall in love with the place and it will start to feel like home. Ask anyone!! From the beautiful autumn hues to the foggy cold nights of the winter you will love it all. When choosing a business school, one might take into consideration the quality of teaching, the range of courses available or the potential for employment after graduation. What may be less on the radar, however, is the building in which the business school is situated – but it’s definitely worth taking a second look.   This article is written by Debalina Haldar, class of 2015 student at IIM Lucknow.
