IIM Shillong: A Pinnacle Of Growth

IIM Shillong has secured 13th place in the Business Today's B-School Ranking, moving three places upwards compared to the last year. The Institute has also taken a significant leap in the NIRF ranking moving up by seven places. IIM Shillong was also one of the only three institutes in the Vaishwik Bharatiya Vaigyanik (VAIBHAV) Summit organized by the Government of India. The Institution's growth can be attributed to several factors, including its outstanding academic performance, stellar placement records, and widening collaborations with other organizations.

The 14th batch of the institute, PGP2021-23 witnessed a great diversity drawing participants from 24 different states with over 50% of the candidates having prior work experience and reflected a significant improvement in gender diversity with a high Female to Male ratio of 44:56.

The Institute has increased its faculty strength by 40% from the previous academic session to efficiently cater to the students' educational needs and broaden the research scope of the Institute. Recently, Ed-Tech firm, Talentedge has partnered with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong to launch "Post Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management". This initiative is only the first time that any IIM has partnered with SHRM.

Participants from IIM Shillong emerged as the National Winners of The CFA Ethics Research Challenge; PGP20 participants secured top positions in the Top 10 Global Finalist Teams of Global Investment Banking Valuation Olympiad 2021. Two teams from the Institute emerged as the National 1st and 2nd Runners Up in Tata Steel-a-thon; participants from IIM Shillong also emerged as the National 2nd Runners up in the prestigious PwC challenge 3.0, to name a few.

IIM Shillong has recently moved to its permanent campus at Umsawli To facilitate a state-of-the-art infrastructure. This campus encompasses 120 acres of serenity with modern infrastructure. The 'campus in the clouds' is the perfect interface for peace and pace.

To enable excellent industry exposure and a balanced corporate-connect for the budding leaders of IIM Shillong, the Institute hosts a variety of corporate-connect programs such as - PODIUM, SYNERGY, EMERGE, BUSINESS LEADERSHIP SUMMIT, CORPORATE ALUMNI WORKSHOPS, to name a few. With sustainability being one of the critical cornerstones of the IIM Shillong, the 8th International conference on sustainability – "SUSCON 2021" in July 2021.

IIM Shillong takes immense pride in its responsibility and commitment to the region's development. IIM Shillong started the Centre for the Development of the North-eastern Region (CeDNER) in 2008.

In this pursuit, the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Policy Research and Analysis was envisioned as a proactive embodiment of the philosophy of the late President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. The center focuses on leveraging knowledge, technology, and humanism to achieve sustainable development. The center resulted from a tripartite agreement between the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong and Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), and North Eastern Council (NEC) signed on 15th October 2016.

IIM Shillong and Arunachal Pradesh government made a deal to collaborate as a knowledge partner for the capacity building of state government officers and necessary policy interventions. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed for setting up a satellite center of IIM Shillong in Arunachal Pradesh.

In the 13 years of its establishment, the Institute has transformed itself into a true leader in management education by establishing quality and authority in academics, policy research, thought leadership, and student excellence. The success resulting from its initiatives serves as a driving force for the 7th IIM in the country to push its capabilities and performance above and beyond to reach greater heights.
