Kaushik Subramanian was placed in L'Oreal, one of the highly coveted companies recruiting at MICA. He had a good run there, getting the opportunity to work on some very memorable projects. However, there was a lot more that he wanted to do with his career. Recognising that he would need to up-skill himself far more, he decided that it was time to do a second MBA. If you aspire to achieve great heights of success in your career, Kaushik's story will appeal to you. Watch this video and find out what his experience was!

Kaushik did not want to do a run-of-the-mill MBA, which is why he chose to study at MICA. However, there is a huge difference between an Indian MBA and an MBA abroad. In this video, he talks about his observations and experiences from both sides, giving us a clearer picture of how an MBA can help your career. If you're wondering what option you should go for, Kaushik's perspective will make things clearer for you. Further, he talks about how he prepared for GMAT while working for L'Oreal. He talks of his stronger and weaker sections, and how he prepared for them during his commute. He gives us his strategies and a little insight into how the GMAT exam is structured. His strategic preparation for this exam is what landed him with a score of 730, which ultimately got him into a top b school like INSEAD. Lastly, he talks about his time at L'Oreal, the interesting projects that he worked on, including his first stint in a small town called ‘Siliguri', as well as his project in Singapore. It was his time at L'Oreal that not only prompted him to do a second MBA but also prepared him for study and career abroad. He would later go on to work for giants like McKinsey & Co. as well as Facebook. Find out his exciting journey in this video! This is Part 1 of Kaushik's full interview. Stay tuned for the other parts. Watch Part 2 Here - I Was Looking For Champagne, Got A Job With McKinsey Instead Ft. Kaushik S, INSEAD Alum This is a new series of talks that we are doing amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Despite the lockdowns and the curfews, we are making all the efforts to ensure that you keep getting insightful and relevant content. So sit back and make the most of your social distancing with this episode of ‘Konversations in Quarantine'!

Key Takeaways:
1. Indian MBAs are great Masters Courses, geared towards helping you change careers.
2. International MBAs are more practice driven, and are geared towards helping you accelerate your career.
3. While Indian MBAs are focused on immediate ROIs, International MBAs focus more on long term returns.
4. GMAT isn't the most important part of applications for MBA abroad, but it is the gatekeeper.
5. GMAT is an adaptive test. The first 7-8 questions determine the tone and difficulty level of the rest of the exam.
6. GMAT has an experimental section in the middle, which isn't counted in your final score.
7. While case study competitions give you a glimpse into how decks are made and projects are handled, the real thing is much more complex and detailed.
