One of the biggest events in any b-school student's life is the summer internship interview process. Your summer interview is something that you spend days preparing for. And yet, it's impossible to predict how an actual interview will go. Because no matter how much you prepare, interviewers can spring a surprise on you. Despite this, there's some merit in learning from past experiences. Which is why, we spoke to students from different b-school who interviewed at different companies to gather a list of interview questions and tips. Whether you're sitting for summer placements or final placements, these questions and tips will prove to be a guide. In this article, Prajwal Kumar, TISS ODCL, Summer Intern at Kotak Life Insurance and 2nd student, shares his interview story.
 
Name questions you were asked as you remember them
1 We don’t have your resume (though they had) with us. So, Please introduce about yourself and work experience.
2 What will be your approach to analyse employee engagement survey of over 2000 employee responses?

Your top 3 tips for answering Interview questions during summer placements
1 Thorough preparation about company which includes about its business, products, vision, mission, values, history will come in handy.
2 Preparations about current trends, mergers and acquisition in respective industry sector are important.
3 Always approach answering the question with diverse perspective through rational interconnections.
 
Roughly explain the Interview rounds and process
  • Initial round had 12 minutes’ online test consists of reasoning, aptitude, data interpretation questions and followed by psychometric questions without any time limit. 
  • Second round had interview with 2 panel members of Assistant Vice President level. It was for around 40 minutes with moderate to difficult level questions on past work experience, HR concepts, Organisation Development, L&D concepts. 
  • Last round was an interview with Vice President of the HR department and it was generic and non-technical interview. It was for around 15 minutes.
