- MoE Collaborates With IIT-Delhi To Develop Women's Safety Device:
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is collaborating with IIT-Delhi to develop a device that will aid the safety of women. The project will be funded by through the Nirbhaya Fund (which supports initiatives of the Government and NGOs working towards the safety of women).
- The United Kingdom Joins International Solar Alliance:
The UK has joined the ISA, which is being led by India. The move was made to mark PM Modi's 4-day visit to Britain. The move was announced by UK international development secretary, Penny Mordaunt at the London Stock Exchange.
- Bengaluru Pays The Highest For Talent:
According to a report by Randstad India, Annual CTC across all levels stands at Rs. 11 Lakh. Pune stands at 2nd place, with annual CTC being around Rs. 10 Lakh, followed by NCR and Mumbai.
- New York Times and New Yorker Win The Pulitzer Prize:
The NYT and New Yorker magazine won the most revered honour in American journalism for their reports that exposed the Weinstein sexual harassment scandal. The Washington Post won a Pulitzer in the investigative category.
What is the Pulitzer Award?
a) The Pulitzer Award is an honour given to those who excel in journalism via newspapers, magazines, online media, literature and musical composition.
b) Established in 1917 by provisions in the will of American Joseph Pulitzer.
c) Prizes are awarded annually in 21 categories, and there is a $50 entry fee for participants.
In related news - Kendrick Lamar became the first ever rapper to win the Pulitzer Prize for music. He won the award for his album 'DAMN', and is the first non-jazz/classical musician to win the award.
- India Is World's 6th Largest Economy:
According to the International Monetary Fund's World Economic Outlook Report (WEO), India's GDP was $2.6 trillion for 2017.
Economies ahead of India are USA, China, Japan, Germany and the UK.
- Saudi Arabia Opens 1st Movie Theatre in 35 Years:
'Black Panther' was Saudi Arabia's first movie shown in over 35 years. It was screened in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

- Amazon Launches 'Internet':
The E-Commerce giant has launched an Android web browser called 'Internet'. The app will target emerging markets and does not occupy a lot of storage space. 'Internet' also does not collect private data, a relief in these times of data leaks. The app is available only to Indian users as of now.
- Maharashtra Is Now Open Defecation Free(ODF):
CM Fadnavis announced that the state is free of open defecation. The ODF programme is a part of PM Modi's Swachh Bharat mission.

An alliance of 7 political parties led by Congress MP Ghulam Nabi Azad had submitted an impeachment motion against CJI Dipak Misra, after the Justice Loya case. The motion was struck down by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu.

- Arsene Wenger To Step Down As Arsenal Manager:
The French manager will end his 22-year (from 1996) tenure with English football club Arsenal and will depart as the longest serving EPL manager.
