Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi has announced the closure of an outstanding placement season for the class of 2015-17, effectuating yet another year of 100% placements. With certain highly regarded participants including Reckitt Benckiser, Google, Pernord Ricard, Louis Dreyfus, GSK, Crisil, Bosch, Mazars, Total Oil and Gas, Brillio, Concentrix, Essel Group, Futures First visiting the campus for the first time, it was a boost to an already established prestigious pool of industry leaders. Another highlight of the season was the presence of PSUs of the likes of HPCL & IOCL. This season was a witness to the esteemed presence of some of the repeat participants across varied sectors including GE, Amazon, Dell, National Instruments, IBM, HP, Bank of America, Deloitte India, Virtusa, Wipro, Axis Bank, Indiamart, Lava. Around 36 recruiters participated in the process for a batch of 46 students and the average package offered was 16.21 lpa. The highest package stood at 27.07 lpa as against 21 lpa of last year. Prof. M. P. Gupta, H.O.D said that the Department of Management Studies has always produced some of the best managers of the country and this trend continued this year as well. A strong focus on the all-round development of an individual, with industry connect and research at its core has been the main propeller of success for the students of the institution. Being a part of the IIT system, the students have always enjoyed a close connect with the latest developments in the industry which has helped them in staying ahead of the curve. Prof. Gupta highlighted that the collaborative environment offered by IIT Delhi has helped their students to implement a number of ideas on the ground under the guidance of the esteemed faculty and the alumni of the campus. The industry thus has always been appreciative of the talent pool offered by the Department and this translated into an exemplary placement season across domains this year. On behalf of the department and the student fraternity, Prof. Gupta thanked all the recruiters and the alumni who have shown their confidence in their students and the department. He also added that it would be a symbiotic and mutually fulfilling relationship for both. Dr. Sanjay Dhir, Faculty Placement Coordinator announced the successful completion of yet another year of placements with the students bagging stellar profiles across sectors. He further added that Sales and Marketing, as well as Consulting, Analytics & Strategy were the most popular roles among the students and companies offered niche roles in these areas. Operations and IT/ITES were two other areas where the department saw a lot of traction. Dr. Dhir pointed out that the students have held the banner of the Department of Management Studies- IIT Delhi high and it was evident in the packages as well as the profiles offered at the campus. The vast variety of profiles offered to the students speaks well about the quality of the batch as well as the industry’s appreciation for the same. Dr. Dhir then expressed his gratitude towards the industry as well as their alumni for the confidence that they have shown in the students. He also congratulated the students as well as the placements committee for the results that they have achieved this year. Dr. Dhir mentioned that it is because of their efforts that they have kept the flag of DMS-IIT Delhi flying high. The recruitment drive was open across diverse profiles in the domains of finance, sales & marketing, operations, general management, consulting, IT and analytics. Business Analyst, Management Trainee, Program Manager, Consultant, Sales Consultant, Business Intelligence Senior Analyst, Marketing Officer among others, were few of the most sought after and desired profiles offered to the students. The highest number of profiles were offered in the areas of Sales & Marketing, and Consulting, Analytics & Strategy followed by Operations and Finance. This accomplishment has carried forward the legacy of DMS and reinstated its support and ties with a strong alumni base and corporate partners. Mr. Rishabh Gupta, Student Placement Coordinator expressed his sincere gratitude to the Head of the Department, Faculty Placement Coordinator and all the faculty at DMS, IIT Delhi for their persistent support, guidance and inspiration. Mr. Gupta added that they are also beholden to their alumni community for their continuous support through talks, guidance sessions and corporate engagements. Such events really helped their students gain deep insights about the industry. He also expressed his gratitude towards the industry for their unceasing interest in recruitment at DMS, IIT Delhi and mentioned that they are looking forward to strengthening these associations in the future.
