QS MBA rankings for 2024 are out! Four Indian business schools feature in the top 100, and for the first time in five years, IIM Bangalore has outranked IIM Ahmedabad in these rankings. However, in the overall scheme of things, Indian B-schools are lagging way behind compared to their global peers, especially concerning classroom diversity. In the overall rankings, Stanford GSB, The Wharton School, and Harvard Business School feature among the top -3 global business schools in the world. Here's a quick breakdown of the latest QS MBA rankings.
QS MBA rankings 2024: Key highlights
- Stanford GSB ranks as the world's top business school as per the latest QS MBA rankings, coming in ahead of Wharton (2nd) and Harvard (3rd) in the overall rankings
- In terms of employability, MIT's Sloan School of Management takes the top spot, followed by Stanford, LBS, Wharton, and Kellogg in the top-five
- SDA Bocconi tops the 'return on investment' list, at par with ESCP Europe, Mannheim Business School, and the Otto Beisheim School of Management
- Four Indian b-schools make it into the top-100: IIM Bangalore (ranked 48th), IIM Ahmedabad (ranked 53rd), IIM Calcutta (ranked 59th), and ISB (ranked 78th)
- Impressively, IIM Calcutta - which featured in these rankings for the first time in 2021 at 79th - has moved into the top-60 and has been the biggest gainer in this year's rankings
- Indian b-schools are amongst the least diverse in the entire list, with IIMs ABC taking the bottom three spots in the diversity rankings. ISB wasn't too far away, ranked at 94th in terms of diversity.
QS MBA Rankings 2024: Stanford, Wharton, and Harvard top-three global business schools
In the 2024 QS MBA rankings, Stanford GSB has emerged (once again) as the top global business school, outranking Wharton, Harvard, LBS, HEC Paris, MIT Sloan, Columbia, IE Business School, Cambridge, and IESE, which made up the top-10.
Notably, American and European business schools dominate the latest QS rankings, with only a relative handful of Asian and Oceanic b-schools featuring in the rankings.
IIM-B outranks IIM-A in the latest QS MBA rankings
- IIM Bangalore has ranked the highest amongst Indian b-schools in the QS Global MBA rankings of 2024, outranking IIM Ahmedabad for the first time in five years.
- IIM Bangalore features among the world's top-30 business schools that offer the best ROI (ranked 27th), massively outranking all other Indian b-schools in the list.
- IIM Ahmedabad does very well on the Entrepreneurship and Alumni Outcomes parameter, ranking among the world's top-35 business schools in this aspect.
- IIMs ABC features amongst the top-50 business schools in the world with the highest employability for its MBA graduates, with IIM Bangalore taking the top spot in this aspect.
- Diversity is a MASSIVE challenge that Indian B-schools need to solve. Disappointingly, IIMs Bangalore, Ahmedabad, and Calcutta (in that order) are the LEAST diverse business schools in the top-100. This was also the case last year, which shows very little to no progress on this front. ISB fares only slightly better.
