Management Development Institute (MDI) was set up as an autonomous body in 1973 in collaboration with KFW West Germany and with the support of the Industrial Finance Corporation of India.
Management Development Institute Murshidabad (MDIM) is one of the top B-schools of India with a Post Graduate Diploma in Management, which is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE.)
With the intention to impart management education, nurture talent, and groom students to become global leaders, MDI launched its campus in Murshidabad, West Bengal in 2014 whose foundation stone was laid by the then honorable Union Minister of Finance, Pranab Mukherjee. MDIM is committed towards imparting quality management education to its student body, aligning students’ aspirations with available state-of-the-art facilities through the Post Graduate Diploma in Management.
The Murshidabad campus is part of MDI’s vision to be a globally recognized management school, known for its academic excellence and continuous innovation to nurture responsible leaders for creating sustainable alternatives. The beautifully landscaped fully residential campus is spread across 10 acres and accommodates 400 students. The B-school has welcomed industrial stalwarts from the fields ranging from HR and Marketing to Operations and Finance who share their knowledge and function specific insights to prepare the MDIM student body for the corporate world. The clubs and committees at MDIM host diverse events offering leadership opportunities to students and learning experiences to participants.
The Finance Club of MDIM, Finartha, hosts its flagship competition called Fincrux. The club has also hosts Annual Finance Conclaves and workshops on Big Data Analytics to upskill students with the latest industry requirements and prepare them for a seamless transition into the industry.

Syndekon, The PR Media and Web Committee, organized a panel discussion involving stalwarts from the PR and Advertising industry to help students build an understanding of industry functioning and current trends in the advertisement space.
The Operations Club of MDIM, Opcellence, organized a certification workshop in collaboration with KPMG for a selected number of students to help them to earn a green belt in Lean Six Sigma Management.
Famous stand-up artist Mr. Kumar Varun brought down curtains to the event hosted by the PR Media and Web Committee. Various webinars were also hosted by Markrone, the marketing committee, which invited marketing heads of different industries and companies who brought their diverse knowledge and industry specific learnings for the students.
The B-school is also home to a cultural committee called Aakriti which has hosted the renowned singer Taba Chake for a musical night. Svadhyaya, the yoga club, invited Miss. Lamya Arsiwala for a meditation session to enable students to experience their B-school journey mindfully and peacefully.
The MDIM campus is sprawling with diverse activities throughout the year. Students are offered multiple opportunities to gain experience, exposure, and insight into the corporate world. The student run committees and activities are designed to enable students to supplement classroom learning with hands-on experience that enables them to apply their ideas and experiences to the real world. These equip students with the skills that help them to be placed at top corporations at the end of their course.
