Meet Chetna Vasishth, Owner and Host at ChetChat, a YouTube channel that assists students with their study abroad dreams, has had a long journey. In this video, Chetna takes us through her journey at XLRI Jamshedpur. Studying personnel management and industrial relations (now dubbed HRM), Chetna stepped into a banking career after graduation. Interestingly, she never aspired to be a banker when she started her MBA. She talks about studying an MBA in a time when the economy was unstable and how it changed the needs of the industry then. In this video find out what it takes to grow meaningfully and ensure that your career does not stagnate. Meanwhile, would you like to attend a Konversations Cafe event? Well, we have good news! Konversations Cafe is coming to Delhi on 14th March! To register, click here.
Summary Studying HRM from XLRI during the time of India's economic liberalization (the 90s), Chetna joined ANZ Grindlays Bank, and worked in different roles as a banker for almost a decade, before deciding to take up entrepreneurship. The many hats Chetna has worn include a teacher, a banker, an HR professional, a corporate trainer and now a YouTuber. She talks about the lucrative consulting sector today and why every MBA student aspires to it. She shares the logic behind the shifts seen in the industry, from a manufacturing-oriented economy in the 90s, to a service-oriented economy today.

She next discusses how an MBA adds value to your career and how a b-school is a bridge between corporate and education. She shares how b-school makes you a better version of yourself and how it encourages you to think.
Finally, she talks about what a corporate banker actually does. She talks about the difference between investment banking, corporate banking, and retail banking. If you want to know what it takes to have sustainable growth in your career, this is a must-watch for you.

Key Takeaways

1. The MBA is actually one degree that connects you directly with the corporate world.
2. MBA is the only degree that comes from corporate backward.
3. Today every MBA student, like it or not, wants to do consulting.
4. When you get into a b-school, the first line of any answer is ‘It Depends.’ There is never any right answer.
5. B-school teaches you to recognize the implications of your actions.
6. When you get into b-school, be ready to completely become this all-new, improved version of yourself.
