CAT 2019 Registration Form - Step 1 - Personal Details
The first step in the registration form-filling process begins with your personal details. Within this section of the form, the most important part is the passport size photo, signature, and Special Category document upload process. The passport-size photograph and signature will feature in your CAT 2019 admit card, scorecard, and will also be used to verify your identity and candidacy at the actual test-centre.
The Special Category documents are of paramount importance if you belong to NC-OBC/SC/ST/EWS category. These will be crucial in determining if you get a shortlist WAT-PI call from the IIMs, based on the latest IIM selection criteria.
Important Points To Note For The Photo/Signature Upload Process
- The maximum file-size for your photograph is 1 MB. You can re-size your image on MS Paint to ensure that your file size is within limits.
- The maximum file-size for your signature image is 80kb. You can re-size your image on MS Paint to ensure that your file size is within limits.

CAT 2019 Registration Form - Step 3 - Work Experience
The next section of the CAT 2019 registration form is for those with work experience. Candidates with work experience are required to enter their work experience in months till 31st July 2019. Work experience, like your academic profile, is also an important selection criterion for most of the IIMs.
An important point to remember - Part-time/Project/Internship/Articleship/Pre-graduation work experience does not count as work-experience when it comes to CAT and the IIM selection process. Only full-time post-graduation work experience is counted as work experience.

CAT 2019 Registration Form - Step 4 - Programme Selection
The next section in the CAT 2019 registration process is the programme/B-school selection. You can select as many programmes offered across the 20 IIMs in India - from the flagship PGP programme to the PhD., FPM and PGPEX programmes. Remember - depending on your profile and CAT scores, you will only receive shortlist calls from the institutes and programmes that you select in this section, so maintain caution while choosing relevant programmes.
You will also be required to fill in your interview city preferences, i.e., should you get shortlisted for the next round of the programme that you have selected, which city would you prefer to conduct the interview in. There are 6 options to choose from - Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai. Select your interview-city preferences wisely.

CAT 2019 Registration Form - Step 5 - Test City Selection
The next section in the CAT 2019 registration process is the selection of the city where you will take the CAT 2019 exam. Along with the 'Academics' section of the CAT 2019 registration form, this is the most important section for all CAT aspirants. Extreme caution while selecting city-preferences is recommended since all candidates may not get their preferred test-city and may have to create plans to travel to the next preferred city to take the test.
Candidates can choose from over 150 cities to take the test. City preferences cannot be repeated, i.e., Mumbai cannot be preferred more than once. All city preferences have to be distinct from each other.
Important point to note - In case you do not get your preferred test-city, it is of paramount importance that you reduce your travel time as much as possible. Therefore, while selecting your city preferences, ensure that you choose nearby cities in the first two preferences. E.g., Mumbai candidates can select Navi Mumbai or Pune as their second preferred city to minimise travel time.
