2. Daily Practice
Consistency was key to my improvement. I made it a point to practice DILR questions daily. Each day, I dedicated at least two hours to solving different types of DI and LR problems. This daily practice helped me familiarize myself with various question patterns and develop strategies to tackle them. I also played some logic games like kakuro, sudoku, and Minesweeper.
Initially, I struggled with the complexity of some sets. Deciphering and then translating the data onto paper took time. However, regular practice enabled me to identify common traps and develop a structured approach to solving each set. Over time, I was able to solve questions more quickly and accurately.
3. Time Management
Time management is crucial in any competitive exam. I got attached to individual sets and would often find myself stuck. To tackle this, I started timing myself during practice sessions. I had to let go of my “ego” with sets and move on when I found a set I could not solve.
I set a timer for each set, gradually reducing the time as I got more comfortable with the questions. This helped me to improve my speed without compromising on accuracy. Additionally, I learned to quickly identify which questions were worth attempting and which ones were too time-consuming. This selective approach ensured that I maximized my score by attempting the easier questions first.
4. Sectional Tests
Mock tests and sectional tests played a significant role in my preparation. Taking these tests under exam-like conditions helped me to gauge my performance and identify areas for improvement. After each test, I gave enough time to analyze the test and understand my weak points.

Sectional tests were particularly beneficial because they allowed me to focus exclusively on DILR. With some sets, I could see that focusing on the questions first proved fruitful. The questions contain hints about the set and you could crack a set if you can get these hints from the options provided.
5. Staying Calm Under Pressure
One of the most important lessons I learned was the need to stay calm under pressure. During the actual exam, it’s easy to get flustered if you encounter a difficult set. However, panicking can waste valuable time and affect your performance.
Whenever I faced an unsolvable set, I reminded myself to stay calm and move on. There were times when I spent several minutes on a difficult set, only to realize that I was getting nowhere. In such cases, I made a conscious decision to skip the set and move to the next one. This approach ensured that I didn't waste too much time on any single question and could attempt as many questions as possible.
Improving my DILR required dedication, consistent practice, effective time management, and a strategic approach to tackling questions.
Targeted practice ensures that you do not panic in the exam.
