Sitting in my consumer behaviour class, listening to my professor explaining the definition of culture “That complex whole that includes knowledge, belief, art, morals, laws, custom and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society” the very first thing that strike my mind is my own institute IIM Udaipur. Here, we have a culture of humility and punctuality and diversity is respected and accepted. The core values are something that you can see in the pedagogy, administrative practices and student culture. IIMU creates an environment where the students can achieve their maximum potential by creating an ecosystem for great learning and character building. All the stakeholders whether the students, faculties or the alumni’s are involved in process of articulating the mission, core values and culture of the institute. Everyone on the campus is motivated to work hard. It is the result of this hard work that IIM Udaipur is ranked 13th in the Management category and 1st among the new IIMs in the latest NIRF rankings.
IIM Udaipur has great faculty and has provided me with an excellent learning opportunity. Case learning methodology helps students in relating to real-time scenarios and force them to think critically and on diverse lines. We are exposed to some of the best faculty from the best B-schools in India. We have had multiple faculties from the older IIMs to teach us. Also, we have people from the industry, who’ve worked there for over 30 years and reached a CXO level designation across respected corporates as our faculties. It has exposed us to some brilliant minds in management across the country, an advantage not easily attained. Also, the presence of twelve Bloomberg terminals, which is the maximum among all MBA colleges in India. The amount of research put in by the faculty to ensure a perfect curriculum for the students is exemplary. We have students from diverse educational and work backgrounds, people from varied regions from around India with varied thought processes which make for an interesting classroom. The student crowd is very intellectual and equally fun to hang out with, living by the motto 'Party Hard, Work Harder'. Overall, the experience here has been endearing, to say the least.
The college also encourages the spirit of entrepreneurship among its students. We have a dedicated entrepreneurial club ‘Saksham’ that works with the incubation cell of IIM Udaipur to enable students to bring their dreams to reality. In a nutshell, IIMU is all about shared responsibilities and taking up the onus. Every person stepping here, belonging here has a say for the betterment of the institution. What sets us apart isn’t what we do, but it’s how we get it done.
Which division of ABG you would like to work for, and why?
I want to join the Fashion and Retail division of Aditya Birla Group. Aditya Birla group values make a big difference to the working style at ABFRL. A lot of opportunities are available for different functions within the group. Role rotation is available for all top performers of the company. I will get a lot of opportunities to learn as the training and development is well-taken care of and currently no other company is as focused as ABFRL. Also, they are the biggest fashion & retail player in India and adopt the best practices in retail understanding, products and supply chains. The company also give freedom to work and a good work-life balance to their employees.
