I was having a close watch on price fluctuations happening with Mumbai - Bangkok flights and after wasting several nights to get the best deals, we (I and one of my best friends) finalized the dates and the tickets were booked on around December 25th. Finally, Thailand was onnnn ...My very first personal international travel was on ... Life's best trip was on. The trip planning was on.
A week passed by and CAT results were out. I had done fair enough. After talking to some of my friends I realized I might get interview calls from some colleges and their piece of advice was not to expect anything. I had literally no expectations getting any call from IIM. To my surprise, I got a call from one of the baby IIMs. Till this, I didn't know the distinction Old, Baby and New IIMs. Sooner I got a call from IIM Bangalore. Woah, I was shaken up and this was the time I thought "This is some serious stuff”. I started reaching out to many people, spent many hours/days preparing my achievement docs, mock interviews, current affairs, group discussions and whatever it takes to convert a call into admit. In the meantime, I received call from IIM Indore as well. Hope is really the best thing as they say.
Till December, I had given up on CAT thing or the whole MBA stuff, had literally no hopes and after a month, the hopes were sneaking out day by day. This is why I started filling all the different forms for colleges like SPJIMR, NITIE etc.
Every B school started declaring their interview dates.
24th Feb - IIM B
27th Feb - IIM Indore.
and somewhere in March-end, interviews of NITIE were planned, there was no clear date and I was sceptical if this date clashes with my Thailand trip which was scheduled on March 31st.
By now I had made my mind *if this clash of dates happens, I would skip NITIE interview and will go for Thailand trip instead*
In March 2020, Covid-19 reached India and then the biggest thing to worry was not clashing of dates but this deadly pandemic.
Unfortunately/fortunately, I had to cancel my tickets. The best part was that I could get full refund considering the Covid situation.
My NITIE interview happened virtually amidst pandemic.
And,
I am joining NITIE today ??
Why plan for life when life already has plans for you?

insideiim, don't you think without telling candidate's profile, with catchy titles, takeaways without context ; candidates get misguided? Half information is as good as false information. What happened to IIM B and I interviews? What was Mr.Ismail's profile and cat score? What is more important for reader? Things that I mentioned or knowing about Thailand trip reimbursement ? I have never commented earlier, but this has been a pattern in many recent posts. No offence to Mr. Ismail. His hard work is appreciated and congratulations !!
