I come from a very small town in Uttar Pradesh where there was only one English medium school. I have been lucky to have parents who value education and have always sent me to the best school available. I always felt out of place in that town and knew deep down that I wanted to do something big and meaningful. I was 7 years old when I first heard of Kalpana Chawla and was instantly inspired by her wonderful journey of reaching NASA from Karnal. I started reading every piece of news related to Ms. Chawla. This inspired me to dream big and I started to set big goals for myself. I would study for hours, trying to learn more than what was taught at school. I came across this beautiful quote said by Ms. Chawla – “If you want to do something, what does it matter where you are ranked?” and that helped me focus on what was really important in life.

In 2005, we shifted to Agra, the city of Taj and my life changed completely. I still remember when I was giving an interview for school admission and the principal pointed out that I need to work on my conversational English. I was heartbroken and embarrassed. I was bullied in school because for others I was just a small-town girl who couldn’t speak proper English. Initially, it felt like the end of the world but then I decided to do something about it and was once again inspired to fight through it by Ms. Chawla’s words - “You are just your intelligence.”. I started reading novels, articles, listening to interviews, speeches and just about anything that would help me improve my English. By the end of that school year, I was scoring highest marks in class and was the debate champion of the school. This boosted my confidence and it has always been the moment I look back on when faced with challenges.

Today I am pursuing MBA from MDI, Gurgaon and I would have never thought it possible when I was giving that school entrance interview in 2005. But there is a long way to go and I can only hope that I am able to accomplish all that I have set out to do.

Why Aditya Birla Group is Big in My Life?

I love quality products and Aditya Birla Group has a whole gamut of it. Allen Solly is my go-to brand. Every time I go to a mall, my first stop is Pantaloons and I never come out empty-handed. ABG owns so many great fashion brands and it maintains the level of quality and customer satisfaction which is inspiring to say the least. ABG is a company I would be proud to work for and I will take that opportunity the first chance I get. It’s not just a big conglomerate but a household name in India which is synonymous with trust. ABG is changing the world one product at a time through innovation and the importance it gives to values motivates so many people across the world. ABG is a group which will continue to grow and bring about positive change in the world.
