Being a happy-go-lucky person all my life, I have tried to sail the ship of my life without losing control at the various hiccups I have had on the way. The closest I came to losing my calm was during the disastrous floods that affected the state of Kerala in August 2018. 15th August, being a national holiday, was already decided as the day I would take my much-needed break after the hectic week I had.

After a late night filled with news sessions about the rising water levels in distant parts of Kerala and checking if places nearby were under the alert list, my mother and I went to sleep, never even having a thought as to what would be waiting for us. Come next morning, I wake up to the shouts of my mother and neighbours. The unthinkable had happened, with the dams across the entire state overflowing and water levels rising in various places with many already submerged underwater even before the sun came out.

Rushing out of bed, I had barely enough time to collect essential documents and valuables before we had to move up to the topmost floor of our apartment building. Experiencing something I had seen before in movies opened my eyes to the temporary nature of our lives and the fact that your life can change in the blink of an eye.

During those 14 days of survival, without any mode of technology, people became the biggest support systems to each other.  Even though it started out as a terrible nightmare that still gives me the chills on unfortunate nights, I look back on those days with the feeling of confidence that with people around you and their big hearts, the world is still the beautiful place that the poets talked about.

How ABG Has Impacted My Life

To be a constant entity in the lives of millions of Indians, from their clothing choices to the cement that holds their houses together to the foil paper that keeps one’s food fresh, without them realizing that significant presence, is a feat that only the Aditya Birla Group has achieved thus far. To clearly demarcate one’s life without an ABG product is a hard task in itself, owing to the huge presence of this conglomerate in people’s lives.

From the formal clothes that is a constant part of my life at IIFT to the casual ones I don in this summer heat on my way to classes, all find a way to connect themselves to ABG in one way or another. Allen Solly and Van Heusen help me look put together and classy, while I select among the vast formal choices they offer. Forever 21, Max and Pantaloons make sure that I am ready to face the day in my casuals while being a boss and having fun doing so.

But the one item that the ABG provides me with, and without which I cannot live, is my Joggers from Go Colors. I am so obsessed with this item of clothing that I have it in a wide range of colours. The biggest selling point of these precious findings are that they are comfortable and uber-stylish without a fault. My clothes have always been a part of my self-expression and this particular product is closely associated to how I see myself, smart, carefree and hardworking.
