HARSHAN SAGAR RAI MBA 2019-21 (Delhi)

It was a typical Delhi summer morning . I woke up in a haste , fully realizing that I better not screw up my big day by being late . Wrapped my breakfast in Freshwrapp and left for my IIFT interview . I reached the auditorium on time . While waiting for my turn , I was staring at the Ultratech wall in front of me , its clean surface acting like a canvas for my thoughts , thinking about how far I have come to get this opportunity . Feeling confident in my shiny new Van Heusen suit , I sat before the panel . The interview lasted for about 30 minutes , after which I had my breakfast which was still freshly wrapped in Freshwrapp . I got back to my Undergraduate college as next up was the most anticipated event of the day . It was the University Football Final . A plethora of people including students , teachers all dressed in their new Pantaloons and Forever 21 attires were gleefully cheering for both the finalists . There was nervousness in both the camps but the crowd did a great job in creating a atmosphere with great fervor .The final was a nerve wrecking affair which we managed to win on penalties . After the normal post-match celebrations , everyone got back home and was supposed to report at a formal dinner party . Riding the metro we could see big hoardings of Aditya Birla everywhere . Everyone looked great in their suits be it , Allen Solly , Van Heusen or Planet Fashion . The get together was a great end to a successful day which was a result of integrity , commitment , passion , seamlessness and speed .

After 10th standard , I decided to move to Delhi from my native state i.e. Himachal . Seeing the Capital in all its hustle bustle with big Ultratech buildings and a swarm of people all around for me was a scary sight as I had no prior experience of living away from my parents and small towns . In the first few days , besides attending my classes , I was being completely unproductive . I would just procrastinate tasks , whine about going back and waste one day after the other . Occasionally my mind would still be clouded by negative thoughts and anxiety . It started to affect my daily lifestyle . My sleep patterns became random , dietary habits worsened and as a result it took toll on my physical and mental state . I would have snacks rolled in Freshwrapp at random hours without taking healthy diet . I tried to introspect but also felt the need to see a counselor who advised me to develop a positive outlook and perspective towards myself and life in general . I started doing yoga which provided a big relief . I realized that all the negative thoughts were futile . So , I decided to use my energy into doing something productive . I started playing football again , began interacting with my batch-mates and being more social . The aim was to feel worthy and confident , be it by putting on new clothes such as a Van Heusen suit to an interview or a planet fashion t-shirt to a gathering, move ahead and keep my mind off random thoughts . As a result , I matured and realized that fears are nothing more than a state of mind . Life becomes much easier when you keep your mind at peace . Ever since , I had been searching ways to make amends for all the missed opportunities in life and now on joining IIFT , I believe I have the opportunity to do so . The hardest times are behind and good times ahead as there's always darkest before the dawn .
