Aditya Birla Group is one of the biggest conglomerates in India touching the lives of millions of people everyday. The industrial group has its presence in almost all sectors – from textiles (Grasim), aluminium (Hindalco and Novelis), yarn (Nuvo), cement (Ultratech), telecom (Vodafone Idea Cellular), retail (Aditya Birla Retail), chemicals (Aditya Birla Chemicals) and so on. Most of these companies are among the top ten in their sector and while they continue to grow, the company’s garment names such as Van Heusen, Peter England and Louis Philippe push the branding further. Aditya Birla Group has been an important part of my journey to India’s top B-School. For all my interviews I needed formals. I tried many different clothing brands for the formals but nothing worked. Finally I visited Peter England and I got what I wanted. Wearing a suit that fits your body shape perfectly boosts your confidence a lot. Talking about the experience at the interviews, it was a completely different and new experience for me. During the interviews I got the chance to interact with many aspirants and was surprised to see how many people had their dream company as Aditya Birla Group like me. After starting in 1857, Aditya Birla Group has been able to touch the lives of millions of people through their products and services. After all the interviews and hard work I am finally here at IIFT, Delhi, looking forward to a completely new phase of my life. I wish someday I am also able to impact the lives of people.
Anyone Can Learn Anything
One of the biggest challenges I have ever overcome in my life is to learn how to draw. I was always fascinated by how people are able to draw so well even from imagination. And I always thought drawing is a skill that is inborn. Going through a lot of drawing videos on YouTube and listening to various artists I got to know that drawing can be learnt and every artist has learnt it. Then one day I found a book named “Fun with Pencil” by Andrew Loomis lying on the table in the library and I flipped through it. It was a book on how to draw using pencil. I thought of giving it a try. I started going through the book, practicing whenever I got time. Initially it was very difficult to even draw simple shapes but I didn’t give up. After couple of weeks I was able to draw decently. When I flipped through the initial pages that I had drawn and compared them to the recent pages I could see great improvement in my drawing skills. That was the day when I realised there is nothing in this world we can’t achieve. It only depends on your attitude and willingness to conquer every obstacle that comes your way. I also learnt that there is no such thing as inborn talent, everyone learns it on earth by spending countless hours practicing and learning. With the values of integrity, commitment, passion, seamlessness and speed imbibed into Aditya Birla Group, they have been able to achieve success in every sector they have entered. And this is the culture of Aditya Birla Group that attracts me to work in this company. I really wish that someday I get to work in Aditya Birla Group.
