Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life
Aditya Birla Group is one of the largest conglomerates in India. Its diversification is one of the main reasons why they have remained one among the top players in the market. I come across various products of ABG in my everyday life starting from my dress, the home which I live in and the mobile operator network that I use for calling and other mobile applications. ABG has all the products from Banking to Fashion to Financial Services to Cement. In Fashion, it has provided me great options in the form of Peter England which is not only one of my favourite brands for formal wear but also for my previous generations, Pantaloons which most millennial choose for shopping with their friends, Van Heusen which most college graduates prefer for formal blazers and much more, which is why they are the number one in Fashion and Lifestyle. In Cement, Ultra Tech has been the most trusted brand for many years which has been the major reason for them in becoming the largest manufacturer of cement in India. ABG has also given me the opportunity to become one among the largest subscriber base in the country after the completion of the merger between Idea and Vodafone. They also play a big part in covering my risks by offering products such as Life Insurance and Asset Management which would help me in the future in case I face any rough patch in my life. I don’t think any brand has contributed so much in my life as ABG and I hope it does not stop with me and it continues with the next upcoming tech-friendly generations.
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far
My ambition in life is to manage a company where I can apply my extensive skills and knowledge to the fullest, and also gives me the opportunity to learn continuously. One of the most memorable incidents in my life happened in my final year of my under graduation college in 2016 where I was one of the organizers for the technical symposium of my department and was responsible for managing my team members. We had to sell T-Shirts as part of our promotional activity in our college as well as other colleges. One difficulty that we had faced was that many were interested in buying the product but they were not willing to spend a large amount of their pocket money in a single go. That was also the phase where EMIs were popular which gave us the idea of collecting a small and an equal amount of money from people on a daily basis post which the t-shirt would be provided. We had given students with the option of making their payment in 10, 20 or 30 days. This innovative idea saw a huge number of people purchasing our product and we witnessed record sales of about 750 t-shirts in a month. This idea was followed by other departments and our juniors in the subsequent years. This experience also enlightened me with the fact that I have the ability to recognize the skills of my team and assign tasks that fit each person’s skills. This is thus far the most challenging hurdle in my life and I would like to continue to overcome such challenges in the future with my positive attitude and patience.
