When I was small and we went to the mall, my father shopped Shirts from brands like Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Louis Phillippe, Peter England. My eyes would shine to see the Suits on display in the Stores of these brands. I always thought that these brands are Foreign Brands. Back then, I didn’t understand the difference between brand and Companies, and these were some foreign companies for me, which were making these shirts in another country and sending them to India! I still remember my reaction when my father told me that these are the Indian Brands owned by Aditya Birla Group. I felt amazed and proud that such brands and quality were from an Indian Company. And when I need formal dressing, I felt proud knowing that I am wearing an Indian Brand.
Where else I saw ABG? Bags of UltraTech Cements when my House was under-construction, Insurance Papers of Aditya Birla Health Insurance of my GrandMa, My Sister shopping in Pantaloons, My Dad buying shares of Hindalco Industries Ltd., and many more instances. Aditya Birla Group has touched my life in many forms and would continue to do so for millions of people in the world.
Part B
Challenges in Life
My father works in Defence Services, which includes a transfer every three years, I never lived more than three years in a place (except for Lucknow, where he was given an Inter-Office transfer). Relocating after every three years was the biggest challenge of my schooling life, as I went to a new place in the midst of my Academic Year, leave behind my friends (Imagine a 5-year-old kid asked to live in a totally new city), adjust to the new place, make new friends, different type of teaching in different schools, and a lot more. But it didn't stop me from being a good student, as I stood first during most of my School. I was also the Class- Captain most of my Schooling, for which, I had to prove myself again and again. But it also gave me a sense of belonging to wherever I went. It took a lot of hard work and mental strength to look past through the hurdles, but I never gave up and tried my best, not to compromise my Goals.
The Second Biggest challenge for me was to overcome failure. Like all others, I too was preparing for IIT Entrance Examination. I was a bright student and worked hard for my preparations. I was doing good in the mock exams so I was expected to do good in the final exam too. But I couldn’t perform well on the D-Day, and that failure took a long time to overcome. When we invest ourselves too much in a Single Goal, the failure is hard to digest.
But over time, I understood that there is not a single way to success but many, and I gradually moved on in my life.
