There is a beautiful quote by Les Brown, who is one of the most renowned motivational speakers, that goes as – “Our ability to handle life's challenges is a measure of our strength of character”. It has resonated with my belief system in a huge way and it manages to put in words my own perspective on challenges. Although the challenges are the roadblocks on the way to reaching our destination or achieving our goals, for me, the way I handle them has always been an indicator of how well I have grown as a person.

One ‘mantra’ that has always worked for me, which I used to follow subconsciously while being a kid and consciously now as an adult, is following a mix of patience and perseverance. It has always been about just hanging in. It has always been about believing that the state I am in will pass and things will be better.

The first example of this that I can think of is the way I made it out of my health issues in childhood. As a child, I used to frequently fall privy of a myriad number of illnesses and used to find myself bedridden or in the hospital every other fortnight. At that time, this mantra used to come in handy, of being patient and constantly fighting to improve my state and eventually the same mantra led to me reaching a perfectly healthy state.

The second example is from the time I switched from vernacular medium of teaching to English medium in high school. Amidst an environment where I was subject to disbelief, mockery and condescension for ‘not being like them’, I managed to top the batch and find acceptance by exercising the right mix of patience and perseverance.

After that, there have been countless examples of things completely going against and mighty challenges coming up, during my graduation, during my work experience, during this MBA journey of one year and even during the summer internship and this mantra has stayed true for me. One more element has been added after my work experience to this mantra though, which is of teamwork. I am certain that with the right mix of these three, I will be able to surmount any challenges that life throws at me and emerge victorious.

Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?

Aditya Birla Group has been a part of my life since I probably started understanding the concept of brands and didn’t even know that these brands are part of a parent company called Aditya Birla Group.

It started with a Peter England shirt, which I received as a gift and subsequently ended up being one of my favourite clothing brands. When I was 11 or 12 years old, dad bought the first SIM for his first mobile phone, which was from Idea Cellular. From then on, the relationship has continued over the course of years via clothing brands like Allen Solly and Van Heusen, which have been associated with class.

The relationship strengthened after I started working and had to turn to investment solutions. My first two SIPs were equity-based mutual funds from Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC.

All in all, the brands of Aditya Birla Group have contributed in a huge way to my day to day life and has managed to touch all spheres of my life. Aditya Birla Group has been able to understand and serve my needs in the best possible manner, be it the need for best possible returns on mutual fund investments or for accessories in sync with teenage trends. Even something as niche as that was catered to by a phenomenal brand like Forever 21.

The major reason why Aditya Birla Group holds an important position in my life is because of the trust the group brands have been able to build in my mind about the quality and value for money I can expect from them.
