Part 1- Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life?
“Great businesses are never built on the quick sands of opportunism. I reiterate that, if living by our values means, perhaps growing at a pace slower than we would otherwise have liked, so be it. For us, leadership lies at the heart of knowing what we stand for.” – Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla.
That’s what Aditya Birla is Group all about--touching people’s life, tending to their customer in one form or other. This ideology has made them India’s third largest conglomerate. To see its presence, the company acts as a holding company for more than 72 manufacturing/service subsidiaries throughout India, Thailand, Philippines, Australia, Indonesia, China, Canada and Egypt.
We could witness everywhere around us the impact ABG is having. Let it be the production of viscose staple fibre through Grasim or be it the manufacturing of aluminium and copper by Hindalco. The group’s Birla Sun Life Insurance Co. is the second largest private sector insurance company in India, and its Birla Sun Life Asset Management Co. is the country’s fourth largest assets manager. Talking about how big is ABG in our life, most of the houses we live in is made through UltraTech Cement, the world’s eighth largest producer of cement.
Vodafone Group & Aditya Birla Group partnership led to formation of Vodafone Idea in India that has a subscriber base of 408 million. It has helped semi-urban and rural areas by keeping up the face with urban cities through the use of 2G, 3G and 4G. We could even see presence of the group in fashion retail. It has various brands under the umbrella like Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Peter England and Pantaloons.
Aditya Birla Group is all about caring for the society and meeting their needs in an effective way. The company’s vision and mission statement also includes that we need to give it back to the nature as well. It has many projects like Green India initiative, renewable energy plants or Novelis being world’s largest recycler of used beverage cans.
The company sets an example and we as a customer give it back by giving our trust and respect to the Aditya Birla Group.
Part 2- How you overcame the challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
Jack Ma, who was rejected by several companies before he even thought of Alibaba, once said “if you don’t give up, you still have a chance. Giving up is the greatest failure.”
This what motivates me, this is something that helps me face my challenges. Everyone one of us face difficulties or hindrances in life. It is all about how our mind-set was at the particular moment. Were we ready to give everything we had to seize the opportunity or even before we took the first step we decided that we are not going to make it till the end?
We have all heard the stories of the world leaders, how they have failed numerous times in life but every time they got up and showed the world what they are made of. But why is it so hard to replicate that in our own life? Whenever I fail in life, I take a break and spend some time in introspecting what went wrong and how could I have done it better. This helps in realizing many things about my own self and how the other people look at it.
Mind-set in those situations is the most important aspect that lead to achieving any challenge. Our thinking process should be so effective and calm that even in the toughest situations it could take a rationale decision and this what sets me apart. The greatest example for this is MS Dhoni’s captaincy and the calmness he had in those nervous situation that made India the number one cricket team.
One more thing that helps me in these situations are the support from my family and friends. Sometimes this goes uncredited but they are the people who will always be there for us and could actually understand what we are going through. Nevertheless, all our achievements are useless if we don’t have someone to celebrate it with.
Failure and success is a part and parcel of life but they teach us a valuable lesson, and it is up to us that how we analyse it.
