I remember the time I got my own personal mobile phone, it was in class 11th, my parents gave it to me as a reward, for my performance it class 10th boards. It had a preinstalled SIM card and yes you guessed it right, I was an Idea Cellular SIM. For me, the phone was a taste of independence, as now I had my own personal number and my friends could reach out to me directly instead of calling up on the landline and requesting my mom to give it to me. One’s own phone number is a personal thing and I am glad that I got it from Idea Cellular. I still have that number and have used it ever since. Talking about the old days is making me feel nostalgic about the lunch hour at school. Everyone used to bring food that their mothers used to cook in the most popular aluminium foil ‘Freshwrap’ by Hindalco. So you see how ABG is an all pervasive household name. Most of the people use its products. For building their houses, people use Ultra Tech Cement. In fashion Aditya Birla Fashion Retail is the biggest name. All major apparel brands Van Heusen, Louis Phillippe, Allen Solly, Peter England belong to it. My Dad is a loyal customer of Louis Philippe. That’s the only brand he prefers for his shirts. He even suggested that to me when I was buying clothes for my office wear. I bought them and they are great shirts by the way. Also ABG introduced to India, the major international fashion brands like Forever 21, Ted Baker and Simon Carter. My sister is a big fan of Forever 21 products and I love them too. Also how can I forget about Pantaloons, India’s largest fashion retail store, one stop shop for your all clothing needs. So ABG has definitely made a big impact on my life. I wonder if there could be any other brand with such a wide array of products catering to all the consumer needs.
How have I made an impact?
To be economically empowered is one of the things that an individual aspires for as a student. I too was excited to be working and earning for myself. I am an engineering graduate and the job I landed up in was a IT company. I was pretty nervous at first, as I was trying make sense of most of the things but gradually I was able to settle in and started to enjoy it. My team was also supportive and they always helped. As the months passed by, the dependency of my team on me started to increase and I from working with a senior and assisting them on the projects started to work individually. It was then when I came across a business critical project for which I was made solely responsible. It was a 4-month long project involving many iterations and I had to improvise a lot as the requirements were not fixed but were changing as it was a regulatory change that had to be implemented. I had to stretch my work hours to complete it and had to coordinate with many onsite clients and after months of working on it the project was successfully completed. I was appreciated by my clients and my team for achieving such a major breakthrough. So as it is rightly said as small steps can create massive impact, I was able to accomplish big in my workplace by working consistently.
