Aditya Birla Group, founded by Seth Narayan Birla in 1857, has never looked back after it’s inception. Now, it operates in 35 countries with more than 120,000 employees worldwide. The group had a revenue of approximately US$44.3 billion in 2018. It is third largest private sector conglomerate in India.
Identifying the right need in the market and catering to the lower group of the pyramid has made Aditya Birla Group enter into various businesses. The products and services which the company offers are Agribusiness Products, Cements, Chemicals, E-commerce, Mining, Retail, Telecommunications, Textiles and many more.
I am personally a big fan of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail because of the in-house brands it sells such as Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen and Peter England. For a person like me who cannot spend a lot and still wants to experience the rich feeling, these brands have had a major impact on my dressing style and confidence. These brands have given me the essential comfort and I feel proud to wear them almost everywhere nowadays.
It’s presence in the cement industry in the form of Ultra Tech Cement has also had a major impact. We had a house constructed in the native place. Our native place is too far and in one of the remotest areas. To find the presence of Ultra Tech Cement in this area shows the amount of market it has captured and how it has penetrated even in the remotest areas. And now, our house stands tall and beautiful amidst many houses in Khanapur, Sangli district. All thanks to Aditya Birla Group!!!
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
Everyone has his or her problems or challenges in life. I personally believe that challenges make a man. The more he challenges himself, the more are the chances of he being successful because there is nothing called as failure. You either win or you get an experience.
For a person who was always shy to face a crowd to he being working as a faculty for more than two years, the journey has been amazing and inspiring. I remember the times wherein I used to talk to myself and get frustrated about the fact that I am not a good speaker. But it is rightly said, experiences make a man. One day I volunteered to host the Annual Day of my School just because I wasn’t a good speaker, I put myself into that situation. I ended up performing very well. This gave me the necessary confidence and from that period onwards, I never looked back. Kept practicing, worked hard at nights, talked to myself and eventually managed to be successful in my career as a faculty.
So now, when I look back, I feel that I am at a good position now and I have developed and polished my skills a lot. Belief in your own efforts and trusting your instincts are the essential forces to be a successful manager. No matter what the figures say, if you have the confidence to go with your instincts, you are already on the verge of becoming a successful manager just like Venkatesh Maheshwari ( VP of Aditya Birla Fashion) who made the Everest Climb Successful and possible at the age of 45 which makes us believe that age is just a number.
