Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?

Well, what can I say about how ABG has affected my life. Growing up in India, ABG has been connected to me in several ways. I think it’s the case with every Indian residing in India or abroad. It operates in 35 countries which is a huge number for an Indian multinational
conglomerate. My earliest memory of ABG is my father wearing AllenSolly apparels and my grandfather wearing tailor made Grasim apparels when I was just a 5 year old. ABG has various business segments namely – Cement, Fashion, Textile, Telecom, and Financial Services. My native home is built using Ultratech cement, I have Louis Philippe and AllenSolly clothes in my wardrobe, I used be a proud user of Idea telecom and then started using Vodafone. These are some of the things I use on a daily basis and these are all products of the ABG. I am sure that no Indian can go without using any one of their product. This is the kind of dominance ABG has on the market. It has been 162 years since the foundation of ABG and it still continues to be the leader in each of their segments. It plays a big role in the lives of many – both the consumers as well as its 120,000 strong employee base all over the world. It has world class schools across the globe which most student aspire to get into. Thus, one can imagine the scale at which the ABG is positively impacting the lives of millions.

How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?

I have been switching places frequently since my childhood because of my father’s occupation. Every time I got comfortable to studying in one school, it was time to move on to another. In fact, I have changed 6 schools in my life. It has only made me adaptable to new environments and comfortable with new set of people. First major academic challenges were the 10th and 12th board examinations. The only way to pass these examinations with flying colours was through hard work. Been there, done that. Next challenge was to pursue engineering from a reputed college. I managed to secure admission in VNIT Nagpur to pursue Electronics and Communication engineering. Again, this was through sheer hard work which made it possible. I was now studying among some top minds in the country where competition was of concern. I was progressing with the thought of pursuing an MBA after a few years of working in a corporate setting. I had to beat the competition and land a decent job through campus placements. Cut to joining Infosys after graduation. I was at an Electronics engineer at a place full of computer engineers. I had to strive hard to crack the rigorous training program. I stood out to be a Top performer among the trainees with 93%. The next big challenge for me was to join a reputed b-school.  I failed at my first attempt at the b-school entrance examinations. I was missing the hard work required to crack it. Cut to next attempt, I was able to secure admission into 4 major b-schools. After considering various factors, I chose NMIMS. I am eagerly looking forward to the challenges I face here at NMIMS and make my MBA journey as productive and memorable as possible.
