The group has products ranging from metals, viscose staple fiber, cement being the largest in India to branded apparels, carbon-black, chemicals, fertilizers, financial services, telecom, BPO & IT services with at least one of these products present in he lives of an Indian. Two of their products which I relate to most is their branded apparel brands such as Allen Solly, Louis Philippe & Pantaloons as well as their telecom service Idea cellular. The brands/ categories of products provided by Aditya Birla Group is one of the finest in terms of quality. Not only these brands but the ultratech cement used in the construction of Bandra- Worli sea link, the Birla copper consumption by the Indian Railways, the Hindalco aluminium present in our smartphone cover glasses are some of the small things which have become a so integral part of our lives that we hardly pay attention to. Who would have thought that the smartphones we are using also have some part of the Aditya Birla Group in it. They do not only believe in business but at the same time provide quality product to their customers. Coming to their CSR activities ABG works in 5000 villages operating 56 schools, providing midday meals to kids , running 5000 medical camps Aditya Birla Group is leaving no stone unturned in making a difference.
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
I was born on 14th September 1993 at a small town called Jamshedpur in the mineral rich state of Jharkhand. Growing up was difficult with most of my family still believing in the stereotypes that girls are the one who should stay at home while men should work. Being the eldest of all the children in our big joint family I was seen as the most responsible. But I never lost the support of my parents. They were only one interested in educating me to have a better career rather than just marrying me off to reduce their burden. I did my engineering which is so common these days. But I call myself a proud engineer being the only girl in my family to be career oriented and working. I am seen as a role model by my younger cousins with all of them having sky high dreams to reach for. After engineering I wanted to pursue MBA which required full dedication to prepare for the entrance exams. Being in a 9 to 5 job, hardly I could get time to study. I gave two attempts of CAT and other competitive exams while working, with all in vain. This made me disheartened and I decided to quit my job. That one year of preparation was the hardest of times I could ever imagine with the only support coming from my parents. Leaving job got me all kind of reactions from my relatives with some saying I won’t be able to find a job again and others questioning my capability of cracking entrance exams. But this did not stop me from working hard and getting into one of the top B-schools. I expect to break many more stereotypes in the upcoming years with the support of my parents.
