Aditya Birla Group is a perfect example of a beautiful blend of continuity and change, a legacy with the continuation of modernity. From clothing to cement, telecommunication network to food chains to financial sectors, the premier business conglomerate has made a significant impact on our lives. Like in recent years, one of the most responsible works I have taken care of was renovating our 200 years old house. Before that, I never had an idea that renovating a house can be that hectic. I had to take care of everything, from paper works to buying all the materials to dealing with manual laborers of all kinds. Not only the look but also the quality had to be the best, that too within our budget to get long-term benefits. The engineers recommended us to use Ultratech cement in construction as they found that it was the best quality as well as cost-effective cement. In the last month, after getting selected in IIM, I faced one tough situation of buying a fitted suit for me. Finding a blazer for a skinny person like me is like finding a needle in a haystack. After a rigorous search over online and offline stores, I got a perfectly fitted suit in one of the pantaloons outlets. ABG came to my rescue here too.
Having passed out from a Bengali medium school, I never paid much attention and never spoke much in English. But after joining TCS, the first challenge I faced was the communication and proficiency in English. I started attending the client calls and participated in team meetings. Initially, I faced difficulties, and that was the time when I started realizing the importance of English as a global business language. So, I had begun to work on my deficiency. I took up essential grammar and writing sessions over online and also practiced English speaking in my room with my friends. I tried my best to improve this weakness of mine. Eventually, I started engaging myself in more and more activities only to hone my communication skills. In the office, I willingly accepted the opportunities where I needed to give knowledge transfer sessions to my juniors or presentations or client meetings. I also participated in skits in my office. I started attending in commence sessions where the office colleagues met, debated and shared short stories based on their real-life experiences. With time, I started feeling more comfortable with English. Then I decided to take a big leap in my career and started preparing for CAT. After a decent performance in the exam, I got selected in one of the best B schools. This is my story of conquering my challenges, which ultimately served as the stepping stone to my success
