HOW HAS ABG MADE AN IMPACT IN MY LIFE
It would be almost difficult to find a part of my life till now where Aditya Birla Group has not had an influence. Looking back to my school days the earliest memories would be definitely of lunch breaks and how I’d insist my mother to make sure she packed my food in those silver Freshwrapp foils. I think even back then and even now in 2019 it holds true that the only name that comes to our mind when we think about wrapping foil, is Freshwrapp.
Looking ahead a little I think Pantaloons would be one of the biggest influencers. Every Durga Puja shopping session would start and end for me at the Pantaloons near my house. Back in the early days of Pantaloons it really revolutionized the way we Indians used to shop.It showed us the convenience of having all brands and items under the same roof especially with unparalleled service. The loyalty program with the Pantaloons green card was also something that really made sure we kept coming back.
Now with the beginning of the MBA journey ABG has become an even more essential part of my daily life. Be it events for smart casuals or formals, Allen Solly and Peter England are some of the go to brands for guys looking for hasslefree shopping.
Over the last few decades Aditya Birla Group really has made it’s presence felt among the common people of this country as it has such a large number of brands under it’s belt, which have something to offer to each and everyone.
Challenges are a part of every person’s life and I feel these challenges are what makes life worth living. I have been familiar with facing challenges from a very young age in my life. Being from a lower middle class family resources have always been scarce. I have seen my grandmother pay from her pension savings so that I could go to an English Medium School. I have seen nights where my mom and dad stayed awake trying to save me from the leaking thatched roof. And all these experiences I feel really grounded me as a person.
At the same time I saw my father go from a struggling business to a very successful enterprise; something which taught me the value of hard work in life. One of the biggest challenges I had to face was when I refused to do engineering after my 12th.I think going down a path which most of your peers don’t take is always in itself a big challenge. I’ve always was the one who wanted to do something different or try something new. In college I went on to write and direct my own short film which also had it’s own set of challenges. Recruiting a cast and crew and coordinating them to eventually producing a film; this probably was the most challenging role I had played during my college life.
And finally the last step was also something most of my peers in B.Sc. didn’t do. Opting for an MBA degree, cracking CAT and eventually making it to one of the top B-Schools in the country. Shifting from a pure science degree to a business degree was also something which a lot of people thought I would not be able to do. But this is what really drives me, challenging myself to do things that people do not expect me to do.
