Aditya Birla Group as a conglomerate is one of those entities which has and has been continuing to shape the future of world. The group in itself is a leading potential establishment with its ever-growing business and has never failed to usher positive change in the lives of people. In its 149 years of its existence ABG has marked the epitome of success, be it finance, textile, cement, chemicals, wind power, mining or manufacturing. As in the lives of many people, it played a significant role in every phase of my life leaving a considerable mark on me.

My first and most valued relationship with ABG group is The Idea Cellular.  It has been the link between me and my family for all my life, as I was out of the town for educational purposes since my childhood, and it has been a part of my fond memories be it festivals, celebrations, daily motivation, my first failure or anything else for that matter. I was particularly influenced by the brand when they rolled out their famous one of a kind campaign saying “Use Mobile, Save Trees”. This particular idea helped me in shaping myself and sensitizing me towards the need for sustainability from a very early age. I was part of Coal India limited for four years and throughout my career where I used to look up at Hindalco Industries to adopt some of the best practices being followed be it in the area of sustainable mining, recycling, industrial waste disposal, dust suppression, energy conservation. ABG brands like Louis Philippe, Pantaloons, Peter England, Ralph Lauren, Ultratech Cement, Van Heusen are the brands that everyone’s preference due to the superior value they add to the life of their customers.

I always wanted to pursue a full-time MBA and being with Coal India Limited for four years had made me attached to it. I was part of a core team responsible for energy conservation, capital budgeting, Infrastructure development for new projects and expansions, ERP implementation. With loads of important work in progress, I was not able to convince my own self to drop in a leave notice and prepare for CAT examination. So I had made the hard decision of not leaving the company and decided to make time for both work and studies. I put in regular time into my studies with no compromise to work, took no leaves (except for the day of CAT exam) and put in more hard work into the company.  By the end of the financial year 2018-19, not only was our team able to achieve their set targets but also helped in the growth of our area as the largest producing area of Western Coal Fields Limited. On a personal front, I cleared CAT with 98.37 percentile, resigned from my services on April 1 2019, and joined the prestigious institute, Management Development Institute, Gurgaon. I hope to stand the test of time and face the challenges the time has in store for me with an ingrained sense of sustainability.
