Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life :
Aditya Birla has been a household name in my family since the longest time I can remember. Right from my father talking about Ultratech cement, when he dealt with cement business, to our family ritual of shopping at Pantaloons, Aditya Birla has always been big in my life. In fact, I use a bit of the Aditya Birla Group everyday in my life. From packing my lunch in Freshwrapp since school, to obsessing over the latest collection at Forever 21, the ABG group has been an indispensable part of our lives. In fact, I am currently using ABG’s Vodafone Idea network to draft and upload my essay. These small bits add up to make the Aditya Birla Group a big and irreplaceable part of our lives with its reliability and service over the years which never once left us even wanting or rather thinking about switching to any other competitor brand. After starting my education with NMIMS, I have been exposed to the Aditya Birla Group’s success stories through literature and cases, or even studying annual reports and I have tried to make sense of how large the conglomerate is and how impactful it is in all our lives, and with every new story I come across, the impact of the group seems even bigger than I could have imagined. Adding value, and adding purpose, maybe someday Aditya Birla Group’s impact would be much bigger in my life than I would have imagined.
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far :
In my 24 year long life, setting goals and achieving them have always been two very different things, the latter always being the most difficult to achieve because we keep struggling with our challenges and obstacles. We stumble not because the ambition is out of reach, but rather because of unexpected challenges and setbacks that get in our way. Therefore, it gets difficult for anyone to keep themselves motivated in the wake of such challenges. However, challenges are an inevitable part of our lives, and overcoming them is also a challenge we must conquer.
Whenever I am faced with any obstacles, I have always taken a cue from an accounting concept I learnt in school a few years ago: the going concern concept of a business which is basically an assumption that the firm will remain in business for the foreseeable future. Even when faced with challenges, the business tries to remain a going concern and will not be forced to halt operations and liquidate its assets in the near term. This really encouraged me to think that if the smallest and biggest of businesses can also remain in business after facing unimaginable challenges, I could also push myself to overcome all sorts of challenges to achieve my ambitions. This is how I have overcome my challenges to achieve my ambitions so far, that no matter what, I will always be a going concern.
