Aditya Birla Group, a conglomerate in the real sense, has been playing a substantial role in our day to day lives. A group, with a multitude of products in its pallet, has a lot to offer to its customers. From products such as cement, fertilizers, chemicals, textiles etc to products such as fashion, telecom and finance, Aditya Birla group somehow has been a part of life of each and every individual in this country.
In the mere 3 km stretch of road from my College to my house, I come across 3 outlets of different products offered by Aditya Birla group, one of them being Planet Fashion. As a young college going student, I am definitely obsessed with fashion and variety. ABG through its Planet Fashion Studio offers a wide variety of clothing brands such as Van Heusen, Allen Solly etc., all under one roof. With Pantaloons offering myriads of styles from western to traditional wear, from handbags to shoes there are few other places anyone would love to go shopping.
In recent times, corporate philanthropy has become imperative in the industry. ABG apart from offering brands and products to its customer is highly involved in CSR activities, always striving to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged. With a variety of community initiatives, Aditya Birla Group through Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development has been able to reach out to around 7.5 million people in the country. Quality of the populace of a nation determines the quality of the nation. From running medical camps and hospitals, immunization programs for children against polio, running schools for children to skill training the youth, the ABG group has contributed a lot to rural development and upliftment of the poor and needy thereby improving the quality of the nation. ABG has been helping our country develop and thus is playing an important role in our life.
Sustainability has become an indispensable need in today’s times. Aditya Birla group has taken in hands a lot of initiatives to contribute towards sustainable development. ABG is the largest producer of aluminium can sheet and also the largest recycler of the used cans. Birla cellulose is striving to secure a sustainable supply chain in order to have a better environmental footprint by tracing the sources of the resources used in all its products. These are just two of the many initiatives undertaken by Aditya Birla Group.
Aditya Birla Group thus thinks not just about its customers, but also about the country and our environment. It’s ubiquity and excellent understanding of its customer’s demands and needs has made it all the more important to me and all of us in our lives.
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far.
“Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.” A life without any challenges is a life not lived. Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them gives meaning and a sense of fulfilment to your life. Challenges not only allow you to learn but also provide a different perspective to your life. I believe, the challenges that I have faced till date and how I managed to overcome them has shaped my life and made me what I am today.
The biggest challenge I ever faced in my life was last year when I had to juggle between my work and preparation for the MBA exams. I have always been a very ambitious person and I don’t tend to give up on my dreams. I have always wanted to pursue my higher education in MBA. Just so that I don’t have to struggle later during the exams, I made it a point to study regularly whenever I got time. I am a hard worker, but just after a month of studying I realized that I have to switch to smart studying so as to make my efforts effective. I remember studying while travelling to office in the cab. Taking a nap while coming back home in the cab so that I could study at night. I made sure that I made enough time for myself and for the activities that I like to do such as reading. I made sure that I do not waste my time and when I look back at my last year I feel really proud of myself for making good and effective use of time, without having to compromise on the things that I loved to do.
Someone has rightly said, “God helps those who help themselves”. In the face of adversity, it is better to stand up to it and try to win over it rather than giving up. Each challenge that we face in our lives, if dealt with a positive frame of mind, teaches us an important lesson. I learnt to manage my time. I learnt to prioritize my activities. And I feel this lesson that I have learnt will come in use now after I joined NMIMS where time management and prioritizing your work is of utter importance.
