A. Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life:
Aditya Birla Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate, serving in 35 countries with the driving force of 120,000 employees, has been consistently featuring in the league of Fortune 500 Companies. The group ventures into almost every sector to cater quality products and services to the Indian consumers at various stages of their life. Such a big organisation has also impacted my life in many ways and I would like to iterate one of the instances.
During my engineering, I was working with a team on a project for which I had to build a gearbox for an all-terrain vehicle. Instead of buying a readymade product, we pioneered into manufacturing a gearbox to suit our requirements. The process of calculations, modelling, and analysis gave us a picture of the gearbox which we intended to build. Then came the crucial stage of material selection where we were required to satisfy the strength needs within certain weight constraints. At this juncture, aluminium ingots from Hindalco Industries Ltd. came as the most apt solution for the casing material. In spite of being naïve to this process, the superior quality, low weight to strength ratio, defectless material bolstered our product. During material processing, the amiability of the material to undergo manufacturing made the whole activity seamless. Since it was built for an off-road event, the gearbox was sufficiently able to survive through severe impacts, high temperatures, and harsh external conditions. Five years since the inception of the gearbox, it has been used by our college team every year for various events and still the product, thanks to supreme material reliability, has been able to stand tall without any hassles.
B. How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambition in life
My parents always pressed on excelling in three field – academics, sports and music. Under this influence, I reluctantly chose a convenient sport Table Tennis to work on and soon I fell in love with it. I was doing well in practice session but somehow wasn’t able to capitalise. Then there came a year where I had to go through a series of losses with mediocre opponents. It seriously hampered my self-confidence with an urge to never look back at the game again. With this uprising dilemma, I was at a crossroad where I had to go through serious self-assessment. The actions I took to tackle this challenge will serve as a repository where I can look for at any stage of my life. I followed a serious goal-setting methodology where I had set a clear picture of the level I want to compete in the next three years. The inculcation was even more arduous which called in for effort from physical as well as the mental aspect. The step also involved a lot of sacrifices, dedicated commitment towards the goal with divide and conquer being my resort to pave through this. Following the goal, ultimately I was able to achieve my objective to compete at State level for almost seven years.
