Aditya Birla Group- An Inspiration to All.
In A world full of competition, Aditya Birla Group holds a special place in everyone’s hearts. Name any industry, they own a major stake in it. Be it Fashion, Cement, Textiles, Metals, Financial services, Chemicals, insulators, Telecom or IT services, Aditya Birla Group has expanded beyond limits and continues to experiment with different ideas in order to win the hearts of the people, including mine.
When a small cotton-jute trading business from Pilani puts together it’s ideas, resources, passion and hard work, it gradually scaled up to occupy the position of one of the leading conglomerates of the nation; inspiring budding businesses, creative brains and an ever growing population. Today, the company has a reach in about 45 nations and brings together 150000 people under a single working umbrella.
Aditya Birla Group operates a multi brand fashion retail chain called Pantaloons. Going to Pantaloons with my family where each one of us can find something for us, is one of my favourite memories. Pantaloons has something for everyone. From kids to old people, it is the right place to shop at. Different varieties, low prices and a hospitable environment- my Sunday shopping at Pantaloons are the best outings without a doubt. I have a varied sartorial sense and like wearing everything- jumpsuits to shorts to formals. Pantaloons is my go to place when it comes to clothing.
I had to buy formals for my new journey at The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. I, being a plus size, refrain from shopping online and many other offline shops which do not offer variety. So why go far? Pantaloons always comes to my rescue and has been my favourite store for past three years. If it wasn’t for Pantaloons, I don’t think I would have been able to carry myself with confidence and style so easily. Again, Aditya Birla Group comes to my rescue.
Aditya Birla Group is not just about business. It is also about emotions. It takes keen interest in raising social awareness programs on the most necessary yet inflicted needs of human life- healthcare, education, infrastructure, livelihood schemes for the poor. Mr Kumar Mangalam Birla believed not just in becoming a leader in all of his businesses but also a leader in life goals. From Sarv Shiksha Abhyan to raising the lifestyle of people and reducing poverty to helping regain vision for over six thousand people through surgery, the group has instilled in me a sense of responsibility and passion for my work and to help every human I come across. It made me realize that inner happiness and social responsibility bring more rigour and strength in us to do our work properly. The group has helped villages in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chattisgarh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu to become self reliant by helping them with basic life necessities. ‘What is in a name?’ Aditya Birla is not just a name. It is a sentiment. A sentiment that has spread deep into the hearts and souls of people who appreciate every initiative the firm has taken for the society.
The group has won the market and the hearts. It runs of principles of business as well as ethics of life. For the youth, Aditya Birla is an inspiration and not just a Brand. It is an inspiration for every citizen like me who has been drenched in the committed modus operandi of the group.
It isn’t easy to find a new home every second year. It isn’t easy to adjust to new neighbours, new friends and a new environment every second year. Belonging from a defence background, I have stayed in nine different cities during my entire life and changed nine different schools at the same time. It was a journey of new beginnings even before the end of the previous memories.
Both my parents are in the Indian Army. So the main challenge wasn’t the whole packing up my bags and leaving a city every other year, it was to decide if I were to stay with my mother or my father. There have been years when my brother and I stayed with our father while my mother was out in the high tension areas. Staying without a mother was difficult, especially when I used to see my friends’ mothers with them, during meetings or parties.
However, this was not the end of the line for my challenging teenage years. During my higher secondary, both my parents got posted to field areas, one in Srinagar and the other in Arunachal. Now this was a battle I was left to fight on my own, for both my younger brother and myself. I was responsible for handling our rented apartment in Bareilly, without having my parents around for support. With responsibility on my shoulders and support from my parents, I had no option but to fight this situation and emerge victorious. Though my parents were physically away from me, they were always by my side emotionally and mentally and helped me overcome the most challenging phase of my life.
I studied hard for my Class12 exams and made sure my brother did not miss onto anything in that one year. We worked hard. We worked together. We worked with a positive bent of mind. I overcame the situation with a lot of learning and positivity engrained inside me. I secured 95% in Class 12th boards and also became a role model for my brother along the way, valuing independence and hard work the most. Our parents have never been so proud of us ever before( *laughs*) .
Who says multitasking is difficult? When the mind is firm and the heart is strong, anything is within our reach. It is not about the situation but the attitude. This challenge made me strong mentally. I became good at making new friends and everlasting bonds, learnt a lot about life and the importance of managing things independently. Today, as I am a student of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, I am in an open field of opportunities to strike. Opportunities which might look like challenges on the face but are building blocks of my career. I am mentally stronger, physically active and emotionally stable to be able to welcome any challenge and turn it into my favour. It just takes determination with confidence and I know that my challenging teenage life as a ‘wondering’ child is my experience of a lifetime, ready to help me fight my battles now.
